I read the "topic" and I still think it clutter's up the buffer. Don't like it.
Would rather you work on a new plane.
-
Mouse over text window/ right click all tab/ select edit settings. / Uncheck system messages.
Also if you wish you can create a new tab that then has only the system messages. And then if you wish drag the new tab out to make it's own window.

You can choose what displays in the text buffer.

It did... all he had to do was turn it off.

Roger that.

When system messages are moved to another tab it's cumbersome to find the pertinent info when 90% of it is kill spam.
Why did ht do this? We already had the kills LANDED messages.
This annoying update has curbed my AH enthusiasm a bit. I logged out earlier than usual last night because of it. I usually play only on weekends and holiday eves.
Please change it back or provide options to make it the way it used to be.
-
Unless it has changed, you can create a separate tab for system messages (as well as other types like PM's and whatnot). :headscratch:

Kill messages ARE system messages so they get lumped all together

I know, which is why I suggested to create a separate tab for System Messages.

...and that is what he was complaining about, so your suggestion doesnt help.

Yep. I completely missed that part of his post. :o Brain can be absent when I first wake up. :bhead
Though, what if HiTech were to make Kill Feed a thing of it's own? This should at least alleviate the issue. :headscratch:

I was happy with what we had. Would like an option to go back 2 the old system. I definitely don't wanna add another tab to clutter the screen. There is an old Italian saying when something is not broke don't fix it. :old:
really unhappy with this new change
-
add another tab and drag it out to have two text windows open across the bottom of the screen. Piece of cake

For some of us without mega-size monitors screen real estate is a valuable commodity. Don't want to waste any of it on bogus text "messages". A simple toggle option to set it back to the way it was is my vote.
-
Using the tilde key you can toggle between two message window modes. I have it set up for one mode to show 6 lines of the 'system' messages in one window and 6 lines of 'all' other messages in another. My second mode is a single window with 4 lines of the 'all' messages (no 'system' messages at all). I have the message mode toggle mapped to a button on my stick.
So, I can quickly switch between modes to see -- or hide -- 'system' messages (along with the new kill messages). Works pretty well, but when not watching the 'system' messages I will miss 'soandso landed X victories in a Jeep' and miss sending a 'WTG'.
So, I think the added kill messages do create a sense of action, but also might detract from the sense of community by interfering with friendly 'country' channel messaging.
Heaven help a newb trying to ask questions on the 'help' channel. :O

Is there a way to fix a tab were you get messages like the war has been won ( of course when you get sent back to desk top you will know), or what field has been captured.
I have two tabs and it is still unsatisfactory. I have tried this for a couple of days and I vote for going back to the old way.

Individuals post when the war is won and when your team captures a base. Even if you do not see the system.

I concur, The everybody killed everybody is making the text buffer way to busy. I see it as possibly adding a humiliation factor to the new player experience also. They are invariabley going to be frustrated with the steep learning curve and then to repeatedly be announced as a loser. Just say'n.

Ironic then that it was that way for years and years during the largest growth period of the game.

Been hear since AH started but gave it up when it went to AH3. Came back last year.... never remember this in any earlier version of the game. Must have been in the early AH3 phase. It is still a major distraction ans at least should have the option to turn it off. IMHO

No.. the early years of the game.. ah1.. not ah3.

Well then I concede your point. it is still a pain in the ASS
An On/OFF option for the "you killed me" in the text buffer dialog box would be nice. As it stands, if I turn off "system", I would miss important "Host" announcements like who won the war or the arena will reset in..... etc

I really don’t buy the loss of info excuse.
I doubt players are desperately watching the text buffer for field capture messages.
I think it is more the loss of anonymous death.
Bruised egos.

I have been here nearly nine years and I don't remember it that way, the way the message board is now.

Yes it was just turned back on. It was turned off when our numbers grew beyond a certain point.

Well the long term regulars might see it that way. The new blood if there is to be any, wont appreciate it. But if HT is just subsidizing a social club for the 70+ regulars then there we have it.

When we started it was this way and we were new blood.

You speak for all new and future players? Really?
All I can tell you is, it was that way for years and years and years while we piled on hundreds of new players a week. In fact it was turned off because our numbers have gotten so large that the buffer was pooling constantly. So apparently it did nothing to keep us from getting the 600 players a night.

Ant there you have it..........
And I’ve told Hitech, when the numbers get back up to 600 he should turn it off again.
:aok

The uber good players in the game probably get off on it. To most everyone else its probably a distraction. Unfortunately we're not in a position to "Tell" HT to do anything.

I think the newer players get a kick out of it more that us "veterans". It takes a while be fore a player gets good enough to get a pair and LAND them. With this bit of recognition it will spur on those players to just win a fight..... even if they get shot down/crash right after it.

Thats how i remember getting hooked. Not running supplies to a pixel town.

WE really started loosing people when HT went to AHIII. AHIII was a real killer on frame rate. A number of people , including myself, spent a lot of money up grading and some quit for that reason. HT is going to do what they want anyway.

You are incorrect about AH3

Seriously?.. AHIII does not take much of a machine to run.

Yeah me too. I started in AW in the "small " arena that was fighter town. That's where a lot of the better veteran sticks of the game hung out. Was dogfight only. I got my brains beat out repeatedly for months before I was even marginally able to defend myself let alone get kills. I stuck with it because of the challenge. If it was easy I'd have moved onto something else early on. But that's me. Shrug.

I have to say, I enjoyed the heck out of it last night. When PTBop was attacking our bombers, it was intense seeing his kill count going up and then when his TA152 was shot down, there was a collective cheer on radio, it was comical. :rofl

I play battlefield V, well did till 5.2 update, but that game came out and there was no kill feed. Guess what the population was asking for, the kill feed. It was just turned off and only need an option clicked but people love it for one reason or another.
