Here is what happened. Because my MSFF software would not install, I never plugged the sucker in, because you are supposed to install the MS software first. So this morning, I plugged in the j/s and connected it to a USB port. When I booted, a bubble pops up telling me that new hardware has been detected, installed and is ready to use. I snorted (this is Windows!) but went to the Game Controller to check it out anyway.
My j/s was listed, so I checked it out using the Properties. It was fine so I fired up Aces High, set it up, and it performs just as well as it did under Win 98 with the Sidewinder software installed. Amazing.
