A thing I wonder about...

what effect would have 'lag' on this concept (for example pilot lining up on a CV and it's totally off by 100 yards to one side for the bombardier)?

Lateral offset shouldn't happen, should it?  You might be behind where the pilot's FE puts the plane by a bit.

The bombardier would have to take control, I'd expect it to act pretty much the same as it does now when you go into the bombsight.  What you'd see as the bombardier would be the only thing that counts, same as if you're gunning.

You have never seen someone taking off from your CV, but just 100 yards away, hovering over the water?

I have, now that you mention it.  That's an interesting point.  It would have to be something to do with the CV not being in the same location on both your FE's.  I never particularly thought about how CV's interact with the rest of the world.

Switching control of the bomber from pilot to bombardier would also likely be tremendously warpy as their FE's would trade which one of them is the "official" one taking control.

I have a feeling that warping might be a decent sized part of the reason why it isn't in the game.

He said a 3rd player to join as a bombardier, meaning there are already 2 gunners, an with that addition, nether the pilot nor gunner would have to leave the gun positions making it damn near impossible to get near the buffs.

I get it, you want easy kills. But there's nothing FORCING the pilot to leave his guns. He may decide to ignore the target and wait for you jump him.

If you are having that much trouble, one more guy in that bomber is not going to change the equation for you.

Well, the bombardier was also a gunner.

ack-ack

It doesn't have to be that way in AH.

is it bomberdier or bombardier?

Not that I am against it, but:

What will the bombardier do during most of the flight? 1) Drink
What will the pilot be doing during the bomb run? 2) Knit a scarf

:airplane: My wish only covers someone who would join, just like a gunner, during the mission or the whole thing if he would like, but then after he drops the bombs he could bail and do something else! My wish is strictly for the ability of the bombers to protect themselves over the target, just like they did in WW2. The pilots in the bombers in real world did not have to gun, calibrate and fly all at the same time, so why should we have to?

so you want to be the gunner yourself while somebody else drops the bombs.  I figure the solution to your problem is already done.

1-join somebody as a gunner.  that way he can drop bombs while you protect his plane.
2-or ask for a gunner then you drop the bombs yourself.

Earl this is one of those wishes where what you are asking is not really what you want like hitech has said many times.  if you want the ability to have 2 gunners then ask for 2 gunners but dont try to hide it as asking for a bombardier while at the same time having a gunner and you as the pilot gunning also while the bombardier controls the plane.

because may I remind you that while on a drop the bombardier had control of the plane and not the pilot.  unless your intention is for somebody to gun for you another to drop the bombs, while you sit in the pilot's seat and just look out the window as you have really nothing to do.

also have you thought about who should get the scoring points if you have a bombardier doing it for you?  you didnt drop so you shouldnt get the perks, the bombardier should.  same as the gunner getting the credit for the kills while you pilot the plane and get none.

you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.
