>So gadfly, your saying a glock18 firing one
>round, the bullet will fall the same amount
>in 3000 feet as one round fired from a sig
>commando....or an 88mm flak gun, or a 105mm
>howitzer...becuase according to you,
>bullets and gun length mean nothing.

I think what he was saying (or should have)is that if both guns were mounted side by side and level,and fired simultaneously their rounds would strike the earth at the same time (assuming a flat, unobstructed range).   But your right they would impact at different distances. :>

"Even a .223 long rifle fires darn straight to 1000metres"

hmmm ... fallen, what is a ".223 long rifle"

Are you talking about :

.22 long rifle
or
.223 (5.56mm Nato)
or
.223 (5.56mm Nato) fired out a long barrelled rifle ?????

Btw, none of the above (or any small arms projectile) will shoot flat to 1000yds.

I'm assuming with your ballistic knowledge you must work in the Media industry, Newspapers or TV maybe ??

You look like you could use a glass of water to wash your foot down with ?

And I was just commenting on the MANOCK thread on "who are we going to beat up?"...thanks Fallen, you've answered that question.

gravity effects over time not distance..
so at 3 seconds of flight two bullets will have fallen the same distance. But the faster round will have traveled a greater distance.
I think.....
Longer barrels just keep the explosion acting on the round for a longer period of time so they give higher velocity
I think..

Right-0 Funked.

Fallen, that is exactly what I am saying.  Just realize that Aero effects, do in fact matter, so the law doesn't hold true in the real world, only as a physical law.

 You are quite right Pongo. This is all basic physics.

Hmmm. .223.....naaaah

I like my Remington 700 .243 Winchester just fine.  She shoots pretty much where I tell her to.
 On tits, on nun's asses, deer's hearts, snakes, prairie dogs, bosses, squirells, bears(ya gotta hit em right), penguins, priests, altar boys, drag queens;
steers, queers, empty beers, and the occasional nasty rat(not cornered); also......
strippers, fishers, things with fur;
horses, houses, shamefull masses from the top of a tower.
Macs, tracks, caddilacs, lawyers, convicts judges;
kids that whine, and while they dine, snot nosed brats and dirty crap and anything to waste the time.......
she does it all.  I highly recommend it.  Heavy enough to take out the big stuff, not overkill on the small.

Have a nice day

Just an addendum:

Bridges' spans, and coffee cans, tequilla when it'd done;
Dad's old hats, some baseball bats c'mon, it'll be fun!
puffins, dolphins, gophers, minx, and badgers;
students, teachers, postal workers;
and guys who know it all;
virgins, nymphos, S and M;
and more shall I recall.
hats, fats, and wiffle ball bats, and others more to come;
pigskins, jewelry (more often then not a nosering)
chimps, pimps, and wily gimps,
leppers that always fall,
from up to down and all around, hell, I shoot 'em all.

Again, have a nice day

Hahahah *cant stop laughing* ok those last too posts have convinced me to completely shut up with whining about AH or pricing or anything else   Its just too damn funny. Ill still comment on the ballistics.

.223 long rifle being a 5.56 nato with a long barrel (anything made by Sig or Steyr usually) Hmm im trying to think of the rifle now....I want to say a Psg-1 or a G3, but those are H&K's...any how, the rifle im thinking of has firing tests of 850yards (bout 750 metres?) without any fall, its used by UN troops as of last year I think for sniper units and anti terrorist actions...either way it only falls about 5-10 inches over 1000yards which if you ask me is 'flat' if you aim at the top of a watermellon youll still hit it 1000yards off. May not be 'perfectly' flat but its close enough. especially when were talking about 17-30 foot long aircraft. Then agian 'wind' is a factor that would certianlly slow the rounds down, but wind isnt even modeled in AH :P if your flying in vacuum you might as well have physics like it.

FALLEN

Steyer STG-77

5.56mm NATO long barrel version without *twisted* (? jeez my english isn't THAT good   barrel had a muzzel velocity high enough to shoot that flat... however geneve convention prohibited muzzle velocities that high (because you'll die on the shock when you get hit) and they had to introduce a *twisted* barrel to get the velocity down .. now you are looking at a 1 inch drop over approx. 450 yards
