109 Guns selection
« on: October 29, 2002, 03:16:26 AM »
Since I'm flying 109 G-10 quite a bit, I'm remembering some post where it said, basically, that a 109 pilot could select wether to fire MG's, 20 mm's and 30 mm's individually. Unfortunately, my search skills are sub-par, and I'm unable to post a link.

The fact is that shooting 30 mm. to fiters is overkill (and dang difficult). Plus, when you engage Buffs you have to deal with escorts first. So, at the end, you find that you wasted 30 mm's with escorts, and have to finish buffs with 20 mm....

If such thing was possible in real life, I wonder if that could be implemented in here. Maybe linking 20 mm. fire to gondolas and seeing gondolas as external weapon, like bombs or DT, and leaving 30mm as secondary weapon...dunno...

Cheers,

lol dont fly it with gondolas and take 30mm only with tracers off......

Thats the best way to fly a g6 or a g10.

60 30mm is enough for 3-5 kills

It may take 3 of 30 mm or so to line up the shot. Just get in close. If they spot you and stick stir or geek dance just point your nose at the sky. Then come back in again. Only shoot when you have a reasonable expectation of scoring a hit.

Its best to find you a wingman so  he can watch your 6. Sometimes you can get a bit target fixated.

It would be great to be able to select gondolas with a seperate fire button.

It may be easier if ht added a toggle on/off button for the gondolas. You just switch umm on and they fire like they do now with the secondary fire button.

However, it would be much better to to have them on a seperate fire button. on thw 190a8 I wish the 20mm and 13mm were linked to fire as primary and the 30mm were alone on the secondary fire button.

Anyway drop them gondolas and learn to shoot :)

Hehehehe....you are totally right, Wotan.

I like that setup...20mm+13 mm as primary and 30 mm. as secondary. I'm used to no tracers from the very moment that option was introduced.

On the gondolas issue, well....fortunately, being Rook these days offers way more targets that you can possibly shot with only 30 mm. thus I more than welcome the extra ammo. Wait....I might ask for 4 gondolas  :D

I trade off the nimbleness with no gondolas for those extra rounds...takes extra patience to get the kill, but I usually miss the manouverability much less than I do ammo.    :D

So back to my initial point....Pleeease, let us have ammo selection as it was historically.  ;)

The p51 can even switch the primary trigger to the secondary (4) guns...
