Unlike you, say, who has decided, based on your own private intel or personal opinion, that there never were any WMD, couldn't BE any WMD and made that decision over a year ago.

I guess I'm a "wait and see" kind of guy, given Saddam's history of actually using WMD.

Let's not underestimate the outstanding and extraordinary huge numbers that Bush used to argue his case.

Bush didn't say Saddam just has paper plans for WMD,
He didnt' say that Saddam as a few envelope's of Antrhax....

Bush claimed Saddam has STOCK PILES of WMD ready to USE with in 45 minutes...

We're talking about so MUCH WMD that it would take large facilities to store them.

We're talking about so MUCH WMD that there would be barrels and barrels of this stuff stretching for acres.

I'm not exagerrating in this characterization...

in fact...

Let's find a quote from Mr. Bush from his January State of the Union address...

Here's one... and the source is the US Whitehouse.gov [not a liberal Op-Ed]

"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. ....

U.S. intelligence indicates that Saddam Hussein had upwards of 30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical agents . ... Saddam Hussein has not accounted for the remaining 29,984 of these prohibited munitions."

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/01/20030128-19.html

Where are these WMD? I know buried under the sand in the desert...

Ok... 6 more months... and let's wait and see... better yet let's wait until November 2004 before drawing a final conclusion - about WMD in Iraq.

Maybe Bush can fabricate another lie and start another war before he's fired.

Saddam was a bad man....

However, waging war with US soldiers' lives and justifying that cause with lies makes Bush a bad man too.

You mean like when they toppled the Saddam statue?

Later the news media showed a panned out photo of that event... were very very few Iraqi's in the square....

It was staged US propaganda event.

There was even a  report that US special ops were instructing Iraq's to concentrate and spread out in one area so when they took the photo it looked like a crowd!!!

Ya know the sad thing is that there actually are many Americans that think like Nexus. I was watching CSpan when some woman called in crying about how wrong it was for us to be in Iraq. That it was all about Bush stealing their oil and the capture of Saddam was timed for political reasons.

There seems to be a rising number of people that care for nothing other than the success of their political party and that for very selfish reasons. I'm hoping it's not actually numbers that are increasing but rather an increased vocalness due to desperation.

Saw this excellent post on the BBC website and thought it worth repeating here:

The 35-year-old myth of Saddam Hussein al Tikriti - the supreme leader who many thought would never be taken alive - crumbled in five minutes. How ironic that his only possessions were 750,000 photos of Benjamin Franklin and Independence Hall. Osama... dig a deeper hole - you're next!

The reference to the event months ago when the statue of Saddam was taken down by a "supposidly" spontaneous crowd of celebrating Iraqi's with the assistence of US forces....

The pictures released by the military showed a "huge" crowd.... however, it was later revealed with a panned out picture.. the crowd was not huge at all...

The entire event was staged... and the Iraqi's were given US flags to wave.

US soldier even placed a flag over the statue - which cause a big PR problem.... it made the US look like it was occupying Iraq...

Wait it is!

From David Kay's report to Congress:

Quote
Let me turn now to chemical weapons (CW). In searching for retained stocks of chemical munitions, ISG has had to contend with the almost unbelievable scale of Iraq's conventional weapons armory, which dwarfs by orders of magnitude the physical size of any conceivable stock of chemical weapons. For example, there are approximately 130 known Iraqi Ammunition Storage Points (ASP), many of which exceed 50 square miles in size and hold an estimated 600,000 tons of artillery shells, rockets, aviation bombs and other ordinance. Of these 130 ASPs, approximately 120 still remain unexamined. As Iraqi practice was not to mark much of their chemical ordinance and to store it at the same ASPs that held conventional rounds, the size of the required search effort is enormous.

500 tons of WMD agenst like VX? Let's see;; 250 gallons of water weighs about 2100 pounds. So let's say five 55 gallon drums would hold a ton of water. That's generous, eh?  Assuming VX weighs about the same as water (and I'd guess it's probably heavier, so we're again being generous here), there'd be 2500 drums of all of it together.

Yeah, you could never hide 2500 drums of anything in a small country like Iraq. Certainly not in a 50 square mile ammo depot. And you sure couldn't bury them like you would bury, say, a whole squadron of MiG 25's.

And in turn - your thinking and logic is deluded.

Based upon the context of this discusion, and you're reply to my comment, you first wrongly assume that "I" and people who share my opinion belong to a political party. I do not.... and I have no "selfish" reason for my comments.

The facts are Bush is a liar. This will be proven when no WMD are found in Iraq... and so far this is the truth.

He lied about the justififcation for America going to war with Iraq.

I was ok with him up until he started lying to justify his point of view.

Bush is no better than Clinton, and in fact is worse... because US soldiers are now dead because of Bush's lies.

You have to draw a distinction between the "news" that is coloured as favorably as it can be while the war is on and the "intelligence" that was coloured or distorted as much as it had to be to meet the administratoins goal of invading Iraq.

That a country at war tells its story in a way that supports the effort and keeps the moral up and justifies its actions is the only way that it ever has happend or ever will. The alternative is hard ot even imagine.
But exaclty the same behavior, used to get into a war, destroys the democratic process.  Democrocies are supposed to be hard to get to wage aggressive war. Aggressive war is almost the antiithisis of democrocy.

So I think we all expect Polititians to lie about thier records..thier policies and their intentions. But when lies are used to start a war. Thats an ugly one.

I'm patient... he has until November 2004 to find them.

But remember Bush said he had US Intelligence which was irrefutable proof Iraq had WMD.

That should mean, he had sattelite photos, human eye witnesses... some kind of evidence which wasn't just speculation... but hard core evidence of what the WMD's were and where they were located in Iraq.

And when the UN said put up or shut up. The US gave Intell to UN inspectors and nothing was found.

The US is in control of Iraq... torturing... eh I mean in terrogating former Iraqi scientists and leaders.. and still... what? Nothing has been found. Iraqi's are giving up former leaders left and right for money... yet... no on has come forward with information on WMD?

Why not? Again the same answer seems to follow... perhaps there are no WMD.

Rationalize all you want... so far, WMD have not been found, and that means all your talk and all the other Pro-Bush/War supporter's talk is just that - talk....

And the Bush lies are unwraveling every day.

I'm curious to know what all you "believers" will delude your selves to believe in November 2004... when after a year and a half... WMD are not found.

The liberals stole them, perhaps? Yah blame the liberals.
