Unfortunetly bad intel given to our military planners on that mission. Landing zone turned out to be a highway. When our troops intercepted a busload of Iranians, they had to scrap the mission. That mission took balls though.

It was also a message to Jimmy Carter, who went on to appear on TV before letting Reagan take office, and say that he was wrong in not supporting Congress in the build up of our lacking armed force training and equipment.  Reagan signed the bills that Jimmy would not.  Thus, our military began getting better equipment, proper training, and todays Armed forces is evidence of that.

Bush says Iraq has STOCK PILES of WMD - Bush's army owns Iraq... WMD have not been found - that's the blatant truth you neo-cons have to wake up to every day!

Your war has yet to find justification.

And the truth is... my opinion IS supported de facto, because this disparity between what Bush said and what is reality - IS the current truth.

Otherwise... please tell Bush where those WMD are... and then I promise you STFU and become a believer.

You have no proof to the contrary.... so your point of view is not only unsupported... but is very much a minority in the world.... not just America.

Whether Bush lied knowingly or not... is a matter of intention.... which no one can answer at this point in time.

I think he lied because there have ben numerous leaks from US Intel officials saying the white house stovepiped Intel.... but I haven't been able to read minds yet... so I could be wrong.

Don't stop believing in WMD in Iraq... I'm sure if you tap your heels together and repeat it 3 times... they'll magically appear.

In the mean time... US weapon inspectors will still be searching for them untill the next President (not Bush) puts an end to the illegal US occupation of Iraq.

All true enough Rip, but also remember that we had double digit inflation and an economy in the dumper in the late 70's too. Carter's mandate was to cut. After Tehran, Reagan got a different message from the people. Doesn't make one right and one wrong.

The only known truth is that WMD have not been found. There is of course an unknown truth that there either are or aren't WMD hidden in the desert. I'm thinking that you won't be dictating any other truths to anyone. You do of course have the right and responsibility to vote your conscience come November but no one else's.

I think one of the dimest bulbs of our times said it best with this quote:

"There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns," [/B]

And that would be that babbling fool the US Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld.

Yep, Carter was only cutting where he thought he could, I don't blame him for that.  I do credit Reagan in smart spending, regardless of deficit, for the defense of America.

Just how big a "stockpile" would 1000 liters of anthrax be? In cubic feet, if you would. Thanks.

Your opinion is supported de facto and ALSO by the world-wide majority? Thus it is valid and all must bow before your opinion?

Let's see, there was once an opinion that the world was flat. It was supported de facto by the world-wide majority.

Better find a better argument than that "de facto majority" one.

BTW, I've never said my opinion was anything BUT my opinion. I'm keeping an open mind on it for now. My timetable is shorter than yours however. And it's clear you haven't researched my position on the US invasion and I'm not going to do the work for you. I rather like you spouting off about me being a "neo-con"; it reinforces your lack of research on the issues in my eyes.

Oh, yeah... can you define "neo-con", at least as you understand it?

Our military as a whole was handicapped, true (as Midmight Target states), but our military men on that mission were qualified IMHO. Nothing wanting about our men on that mission.
It was our detailed planning by others via bad intel that was wanting. Not saying that the mission would have succeeded mind you. That mission took balls.

heh, with the case of anthrax, easiest way to get rid of it, would be to just spread it all over the desert - in couple of days it'd be harmless and in a week you wouldnt find a trace
He for sure won't have any big loads of anthrax, if he ever has had it for worth something.
completely harmless and in a week you wouldn't find a trace.
Gasses... he must've already used those against iranians and kurds - under the silent approval of US gov.
Gasses are pretty much the only thing which you might find in *loads* and most probable findings if something ever is to be found.

Somehow I doubt biological WMD would be ever discovered.
Since if he ever had bio WMD, those would been produced in very small quantities for testing purposes only, since bio WMD wouldn't be anywhere as easy to store as gas.
and like we've seen, Saddam was a coward, which makes even further unlikely...

Qualified, but not properly trained. The entire US Special forces operations and training were turned completely upside down, inside out, after that mission.  Its completely different in how it approaches an operation and the training for said operations.  Yep, took balls, because we shouldn't have even been trying what we did with the training, assets we had at our disposal at the time of the mission.

I never said you had to bow... you may cowtow if you'd like... just don't slobber on my shoes, peasant.

"World is flat..." hmmm... this is not your usual Toad... you can do better... rather a desparate grasp for an arguement, Toad.

Let's put it this way... the world, today, concludes truth by evidence based reasoning not superstition or edict....

Bush would like to edict the facts about WMD in Iraq... and sounds like some of you on this board would like to believe Bush's edicts - after all he is the president... yet the rest of the world is still waiting on the evidence that WMD exist in Iraq.

STOCKPILE - that was Bush's word not mine. Ask him to define what STOCKPILES of WMD mean. Read the state of the union address... ihe uses that WORD several times to refer to how much WMD Iraq had. (link to whitehouse.gov is in previous post - read it!)

And he did claim that Iraq had FACTORIES making these weapons ... those are rather large and hard to hide - wouldn't you agree?

And when those FACTORIES were inspected... they didn't have a TRACE of WMD.... They DID have traces of pesticides and fertilizer.. but no Anthrax, or serin, or mustard gas or radio activity.

We have instruments that can detect minute traces of these chemicals... so sensative... that a spores on a key board... in a vent are detectable in a huge US GOV POST OFFICE.... surely a FACTORY producing LITRES would show some signal of these bio/chemicals WMD...

YET....

THEY DID NOT.

And what about those "Mobile weapons laboratories" that Colin Powel had AutoCad drawings of and were PROOF as to why UN inspectors couldn't find WMD?

Those were found!!!

YEAH!!! Proof!

NO - JUST ANOTHER EXAGERATION BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION REVEALED TO BE A FABRIBCATION!

They turned out to be hydrogen generators for WEATHER balloons!

Do you believe the US State Department? You know the department run by Bush Political Appointee Colin Powel....

Here's what they say about those "MOBILE WEASPONS LABs"
http://usinfo.state.gov/topical/pol/arms/03052801.htm

And to think Colin had AUTO CAD DRAWINGS!!
Irrefutable US Intelligence that Iraq has WMD.

Where did he get those drawings from?

Intercepted intelligence from Iraqi sources?

No... THEY WERE FABRICATED by a white house aide!
Just like the story he told at the UN.

How many disconnections between what they say/said and what was found to be true do you need to believe that the Bush talk doesn't match reality?

There's a pattern of desception here.... ok you don't see it... don't want to believe it.

that's fine... click your heels... and return to land of Oz.
