Forget this post, AH is perfect in every way and nothing needs changing. No one ever whines about getting ganged, HOed, Ran down by a dweeb LALA, get accused of being a NIKI dweeb or anything. I dont know what I am thinking to suggest that AH isnt perfect, Im sorry.

I don't see how splitting up the player base among multiple main arenas benefits Aces High at all.

I feel the best, easiest, and most obvious way to break it up is to just have 2 MA's. Can do it 1 of 2 ways. #1 can have 1 MA as a large map only, and when it resets it just resets to another large map, and the other map is small and resets to another small map. #2 (and this in my favorite) is to model it kinda like AW had it, have 1 MA in the ETO with British, Russian, German, and USAF planes. Then the other MA can be Pacific/Meditaranian with USN, Japanese, Limited British, and limited German planesets. This would be so easy for HTC to impliment that it is silly to not have it this way. Obviously just as in AW one of the MA's would be more popular, but it would seriously drop the numbers in each arena which I think is a GREAT thing. These small maps are fine and dandy when each country has 35-70 people on, but when 120-200 people are on in each country it sux IMO. Some people may like it but alot dont. HTC, please respond, how long would it take to add another MA along the lines of what I suggested? And why dont you do something to give us a reason to keep paying our hard earned money to you. I realize that creating a new game (AH2) is a huge task but please throw us a bone here.

Hitech has already responded in the other thread, as well as others, not such why you felt you had to rehash this here when the conversation could have continued in that thread.

The Combat Theater provides historical and regional matchups like this.  Even then, it rarely enjoys greater than 10% of the MA numbers.  People like variety, and what you're proposing substantially reduces gameplay variety while simultaneously fracturing the player base between two main arenas.  I strongly doubt HiTech would ever support such a move.

If you wish to try historical matchups outside of the CT, try Aces High events (like major scenarios or weekly squad ops) or start a head to head room with a restricted planeset.

N8dog, AW had its share of problems too.

ETO 1st camp was hard to get anyone to fly allied. Once second camp and 3rd camp rolled around (pj available etc) it would turn around and would be hard to find axis up and about.

Rolling plane sets just don't work for everyone.

As far as numbers go in the MA.
I agree that when we have a small map up it can get a little crowded. But they tend to get reset quickly, and allow more people as a rule to enjoy winning a reset.

I like the set up we currently have. There is something for everyone here as it is.

MA for the score dweebs :)

CT for the folks who like a set scenario (many historical)

SEA for all kinds of different events happening on a regular basis.

This ain't AW (in fact its a damn sight better IMO).

HI-Tech, keep do'in that thing you do so well!

Cheers,
RTR

I thought they were split.  I think the other one is called the CT, or something like that.  I'll look into it.

I have a suggestion for you. Change your handle. I don't want people thinking I'm crying about my own game.

Oh sure , improve it.

Pretty soon the "How to Live with Your AH Addiction", "Are You AH Co-dependent?" and "Freeing Yourself from The MA" is gonna hit the bookstores.

I wonder what the 12 steps will be?

No game is perfect, nor will one ever be.  I remember first person shooters like Quake, Half-Life, and even the Team Fortress Classic or Counterstrike MODS.  Everyone online complained about getting sniped.  I relate that to getting cherry-picked in the main arena.  It sucks, it really pisses you off to no end.  But ask yourself, does it make you mad because the other guy is exploiting a weakness in the game or the fact that you were not have been paying attention to all the areas around you at that time and he got you at a weak moment?  The DA and CT (to some extent) have the 1 vs. 1 thing at co-alt going on more than the MA.

If you notice that guy above you, let him commit, then before he gets TOO close, roll and pull him down to the deck right into a gang of your countrymen, that usually makes them go away pretty quick.  If he doesn't follow, just keep moving on, most likely he will as well.  Alt is a big advantage, he's exploiting that, so take his away as well.  All you can do is play the game the way you'd like it played, and learn how to deal with the others when you are in the air.

I think its a pretty good balance. Some maps are definitely harder because they require using a plane I don't normaly fly (e.g., I can't hardly catch anything when flying a spit on the pizza map). But I guess thats a good thing. It forces me to try something new.

The only thing a truly dislike is the suicide porking. Its hard to defend a base if the pilot it going to dive staight down from 20k knowing he's never going to pull out of the dive, but wil pork fuel before he dies. Second thing I hate is when you can't resupply HQ because the enemy didn't destroy it completely. That just seems like a bug

Dang hitech and natedog. kind of jerks aint ya. He was asking a simple question. a million people whine per day, why dont you pick them out too. did you complain to the guy who was suggesting perk all the planes somewhat. do you not have confidence in your own game or something that you would respond to a customer in such a way. "i'm the boss, ill do what i want". what an awesome reputation to have in the gaming world.

Acually, Hitech and nate have always been polite and respectful to people who are polite and respectful
On the other hand, if they get blasted they deserve it
Having played this game longer then 1 month, I can say that Hitech and company alway respond to the concerns of the community, and as a matter of fact, this is the ONLY game I've ever played where the owner plays too
So before you go "dissin" someone, I suggest you get the facts right first
