How many Guitar picker do we have out there?
« Reply #15 on: May 24, 2004, 12:05:27 AM »
Only been playing 10years.
I been a drummer all my life picked up the guitar back in 94..

And yes the mainstream white America did not have clue about Blues music.

You would ask someone who muddy waters was and you would get a blank stare LOL.

But then again you might just get the same look today.

You wanna talk great Pickers?

How bout Chet Atkins

It has been said that playing the blues Is like having to be born black twice.
I quess noone told stevie and we didnt seem to mind at all.

LOL and Capton had Huge respect for him.

As did David Bowie thats why he hired him as an unknown to play on Lets Dance.

The cat could play.

I've got the SG Les Pauls edition. Big bucks but a sweet guitar IMO. Also got a Taylor acoustic. Pretty sweet.

I've met big bro Jimmie quite a few time too and I admire his playing, its diametrically opposed to Stevie's playing in terms of blues but I really dig his vibe too.

As far as a pure blues player I can't get past BB, that tone, that voice,...he IS the KING.

Can you imagine being in that club when Stevie played on stage with Albert King when it's a well known fact that Albert didn't like ANY other blues player.  Man, talk about huge balls...

Only have the song?  Dude, get your bellybutton down to the local record shop and pick up the entire album.  One of the greatest blues recordings ever.

I remember when Eric was a nobody and we'd go watch him play at the Art Institute over off Greenville Ave for like $10.00.

I remember the same thing about SRV here in Houston in the early 80's.  I think he had a bigger following here than in Austin, at least that's what it seemed to me.
