Martlet,
Quick Answer.  No.

Did those people say it's their business if you do or do not donate (aside from your minister, who makes it his business)?

Your minister analogy doesn't hold here on a Sim BBS, and you know that.

It is not about my guilt about whether I donate or not.  You have that wrong.

And if you do donate, do, but don't transfer that good act into a guilt trip to others by saying it is your business what they do or do not do.

Again, for your comprehension,  I already stated that I thought it was a good thing Ozark did and that it was helpful information he posted in his thread.

He just went to far, IMO, when he stated it was his business what SOB did if SOB donated and didn't announce it to the world.  I noted my exception to that.

That isn't the way I understood his post.  I took it to mean that he was a firefighter, therefore in the business of helping people. so he posted.  Not he was a firefighter, and whether or not you donate is his business.

Just my interpretation.

Martlet,
I don't know if you saw his post before his edit, but I took it a different way, obviously.

What's with all the confusion? It's pretty simple. Here, let me try and take a stab at it.

A tsunami hits, with tens of thousands dead.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Ripsnort has gone.... oh.... about 30 days without bragging about something (although I did see a thread started by someone here today blessing Rip for having beautiful kids or whatever, so despite missing that post I think it's safe to assume that Rip was jonesin' for some kudos - it's a cycle - and made another one of his "look at me" posts).

Maybe not enough people complimented him on his kids. Or maybe taking advantage of the sheer number of tsunami dead was just too irresistable. I don't know. But you can set your watch to this kind of thing.

If you thought for a second.... one second... that when Rip whipped out his checkbook, the thought of how he would parlay it into another "look at me" post (or three) didn't cross his mind... then you don't know Ripsnort. Hell, it was probably his sole and guiding motivation.

I only wonder how big a hit his $110,000/year "toy" budget took on account of this noble act of charity.

I wonder why people take the time to bust on Rip so feverishly.

From all the posts I have ever seen from Rip, he seems like a nice guy with a nice family.

Everyone of us has our issues and quirks. Rip seems to me like a genuinely nice person. He seems like a man who is very responsible and loves his family.

Nash, you seem like a nice person too, but you also seem to have the nasty side who likes to jump all over someone for seemingly no reason.

I give about 30% of my income to the world's largest charity.  I'll let them take care of it.

Yea!  I pay taxes!
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Here Here!
I earler today made a really crappy comment to Rip about his kids
In a retort to one of his comments accussing me of being someone else.

I issued an apology because I behaived like an idiot and he was not deserving of my childish actions.

I like Rip And I do believe that he is a fine American and a great father and husband two of the hardest jobs there are bye the way.

I may not agree with him all the time and he with me but I do hold him in high regard and If I ever meet him will humbly ask him for his forgiveness for my comments.
