Every time I walk into an arcade these days, I too end up walking out with my money still in my pocket shaking my head and longing for the good ol days.

I once played Galaga for 40 minutes on one quarter.  Love that game.  Tobin was another that always had my initials in the top spot.

Can't understand how the arcades stay in business these days.

Chairboy - You can't go wrong with Super Mario Brothers IMO.
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

Well, Gillians @ Katy Mills Mall closed down recently. Gillian's Marqee only has heavy traffic on one game, Derby Owner's Cup (it's 8-player gaming heroin. My best friend & I sat down and played this for 10 hours drinking Margaritas & having lunch AND dinner brought to us.. if we'd gotten up, we'd have lost our spots). Dave & Buster's is still in business because it's a family environment until they kick the kids out at 10pm, and it's more bar/poolhall than arcade really. Most of the Tilt arcades they put in malls go out of business pretty quick.  I just don't think a regular arcade can stay in business anymore, unless its a mixed venue like D&B.

Add strippers to D&B and I'd never leave.

Oh man no doubt. I used to work about 5-10 minutes from it on South Post Oak, the Wells Fargo building. Spent many a night there drinking it up with the other techs. The best was dating a girl that worked there, and getting hooked up with a free game card w/ eleventy billion credits on it. I played alot of battletech in those days.

In defense of Dave & Buster's (Columbus).....

I went there for lunch today and not only did they have the often-found Ms. Pacman/Galaga combo, but they also had..

Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr/Super Mario Brothers combo
Space Invaders/Qix combo
Centipede/Millipede/Missile Command/Bowling combo

It appears that manufactures are getting smart and are coming out with new combo machines.  I may have to start feeding $$ into my D&B card.  :D

D&B's is pretty nice I haven't been there in awhile though, its go carts for me now :).  Most of the games are more I dunno....not the same i guess.  Anyone from Colorado can testify to this(cause I don't know if other states have them) Red and Jerry's SUCKS.

Burgertime however is awesome on coleco vision console :aok

I have never been able to figure out how to get MAME to run on my comp.  Would be the bomb if I could.
