I built my first colony ship. How do you colonize a planet? Just pick one and send your ship to it?

when your on the fleet screen, enter the coordinates to the place where you want to go (it has to be an empty space on the galaxy screen, no names or anything. Hit next and in the select box there will be one that says "colonize." You select that and send it on its way. It will take a long time though. Mine took 12 hours

oh, btw, i suppose it'll give me the option of naming my new planet/colony when the ship arrives? it to a space in my galaxy, so shouldn't take too long.

In a few minutes i can build the large shield dome.

Dunno if its worth it, but ill build it anyway. The small one is ofcourse inplace already.

small shield dome
large shield dome
50 missile launchers
10 small lasers
2 heavy lasers
1 gauss canon
1 ion canon


Any tips on better balancing my defences without going broke?

yeah..

dont leave anything there worth crashing/stealing. ;)

Thats what i have learned, all my resources get shipped to my super secret batcave colony now and i have only a small raiding fleet on my other planets.

Yup.. i always leave one free fleetslot and enough transports to get the res to my colony if someone attacks, and I fleetsave every night and when i leave for some hours. :)

99 missle launcher
177 sm laser
15 hvy laser
7 gauss cannons
1 sm shield
1 lrg shield
4 ABM's

also weapon tech - 7
shield - 6
armor - 6


(makes defenses a little stronger and more firepower)

Oh yeah my score is almost 4000, im getting closer to being un-noobed :(

On my main planet I never built a single solar sat, dont want them to be fodder and lose them. All my power comes from a solar plant, lvl 18. lvl19 costs 120K metal and 64K crys.


My list of techs (Im botred this morning)

hyperspace - 2

ion - 2 (dont plan on upping this one, wont build ion weapons)

I am building my rocket silo #4, so I can get IPBM's.  only have 11 hours left until its done
