The ones that are no longer available are Rangoon and Coral Sea.  The available ones are on the web page -- and of course we'll have Battle of Britain 2006 once the come in this week.

Don't they have a wax backing on the patch? Can't you just iron it on to melt the wax and bond it with the jacket?

I haven't done this, but I assumed that's what it was there for.

I think it's more a combination hotglue of some kind, Krusty.  Wax would just melt the first hot day in your car, or on the street, then the patches would ooze off unless tacked down.

*shivers at the thought of his patches hitting the pavement as he struts through town unawares....* ohhh  the udder embarassment of it all.

It's a thin, flexible plastic backing to add a little stiffness.  Also, since it covers the stitching on the back side, it adds durability to the patch (much less chance of snags, unraveling, etc.).

So, you can't just steam it onto something? You must sew it on?

I don't order them with iron-on backs.  Iron-on backing is a low-quality method of attachment that gives crappy results.

However, if you want to use an iron-on adhesive or glue (neither of which I'd recommend for mounting on any garment, although glue could be OK for mounting on a background for framing or something like that), nothing is precluding you from getting that stuff at a fabric store or on the Internet and using that instead of sewing it on.

Also, if you used iron-on, eventually it would fall off onto the sidewalk.   Then, I would scuttle over, peer at it, and say, "Mine?"

Krusty,
Guess you are going to have to get married to someone who knows how to sew, have your girlfriend do it, or do it your own self. (Although some cleaners, uniform shops and tailors will be glad to do it for you, for a donation to their cash register)
I could never find a woman who was willing to take the time to sew "stupid patches on that dam jacket, though. Always have done it my self, and the results are predictable, but I have never lost one. :D
(To cheap to pay a professional, cause after all, it's just "a dam jacket")

The Battle of Britain 2006 patches have arrived.  Here is a scan of one.

Roscoroo has again graciously volunteered to mail them out, so if you want one, please send e-mail to him here:  roscoroo "at" hotmail.com

Make sure to tell him your mailing address and which patch you want, as there are still other scenario patches available in Roo inventory, as shown here:

http://www.electraforge.com/brooke/flightsims/patches/patches.html

If you donated money to the effort, please feel free to ask for more than one patch or to ask for a BoB 2006 patch and any others you might want.

Rosco, I'll drop them and mailing money by late this week or early next.

ROC,

"It pays to have a daughter in Girl Scouts bucking for that sewing patch "

Been there, done that. Didn't have patchs to sew back then. Now that I can afford the stuff to aquire patchs, I see no reason what ever to go get another daughter. Seems like a viscious cycle, to me.  :D

(Grand Kids don't have time for scouting. Too many "important" things to do ... Ipod loading and listening, text messaging, http://WWW. sites to keep up with, snacks to eat, couchs to keep warm etc.)
