Battle of Britain Patches

I just got a scan of a sewout.  Here it is:

A scan tends to look lighter than the patch looks to the eye, so I think that, although this scan looks to have lighter shades than the artwork, the actual patch will be close.  However, it's hard to tell.  Given this, are people happy with it, or do they want me to do a redesign with darker colors?

The rest of it -- the shapes -- look great.

If you think it looks better with the human eye, I'll take your word for it. The scan, IMO, is a bit light (orange more than red), but even then it's still sweet!

I won't know how it looks by eye until I get the produced patches.  Until then, I have to go by patch scans.  I'm just going by past patches and scans -- the past patches by eye look darker than the scan did.  But this "darker in real life" aspect is not enough to turn light blue into medium blue or orange into red.  The design artwork was lighter blue and orange, though, not medium blue and red -- and  I picked the thread colors off their color chart to try to best match the artwork.

We'll see what BlauK thinks.  I sent him an e-mail and hope that he comes to this topic to comment.

Other than possible different opinions on shade of color, though, I think they did an excellent job on the shapes of everything.  I will make sure to compliment their transfer graphics person.

Good job Brooke!

It looks pretty fine to me. I trust you with how the colors appear. However, they are supposed to be blue and red, pretty much like in they are in the RAF roundel... so not orange. Medium blue and medium red sound good... as long as they are not dark. The black planes have to stand out from the blue.

The word "September" is quite close to the edge, the bottom of "p" even touches the black edge. If it is possible, that text could be moved inwards, like the other texts already are.

The bomber on the left has some blue thread on its left engine, which makes it look like the engine is breaking apart.

I can change the colors and will do so.

It's very strange -- in the graphic posted here, the colors look medium-light blue and orange to me, not blue and red.

How do the colors in BlauK's graphic look to others here on their setups?

I can't really change the placement of items, though, without extra charges.  I wouldn't worry about the p and the bomber engine, though -- such things are just within variation of patches.  We'll see what the next sewout looks like when I change the colors.

Brooke,
Looks very Orange and light blue to me as well, including the RAF area.
I would not be the least bit worrired about one blue thread in that engine or the placement of the date, so long as it is readable, as it appearts to be.
