I look at this whole thing as pretty good for our country. I'm also a Republican so let me explain here. The Democrats spent allot of time yelling about change, and Bush is evil and everything else. When asked what their plans were you'd get a bunch of "We need a change" but no real plan was ever outlined.

So, they win this MID TERM election and now have a slight majority in the House and Senate. In two years when the BIG elections come up the people are going to see if the Democrats have been able to do anything worth while or just continue down the road they've been on of blaming the Republicans for everything.

I have a feeling the next 2 years are going to make the next elections very interesting when people start looking at what has or has not been delivered by the Democrats.

I was amazed by the DNC's webpage. No plan, no goals outlined, just artical after artical about what was wrong with the Republican party. The GOP webpage by contrast actually had the issues laid out and the partys position on those issues defined. Goals were laid out and the reasons behind them.

Maybe it's just me but every die hard Democrat I've ever met has only been able to do one thing well and that's point a finger at something or someone and tell me "they" are at fault and "they" are the reason the country is so messed up. Whenever I'd ask what the Democrats planned to do to fix the problems the usual answer was along the lines of "The first thing we have to do is fix what "they" broke". That would continue in a relentless circle untill I'd get so frustrated I would walk away.

But like I said. I'm glad they won. They have 2 years to prove they can do more than finger point and lay blame. Show me some positive results and I might be impressed but I don't see it happening.

Strange that you didn't expect the same from the Republicans.  How much bigger did government get in the last six years?

Au contraire, if you do alittle research, you'll see that I stated in 2003 that we need to establish a stable gov't in Iraq within 2 years and secure the country, otherwise we're wasting our time.  I do think having us over there fighting terrorism in the backyards of Iran is certainly better than over here, but I would have expected to have Iraq secure by now. We do not. Time for the Dems to put up or shut up, and do something the Republican congress/Senate could not.

Certainly you don't expect our (I say OUR because you're a foreigner) democrats to sit on their hands, do you?

I have yet to respond to the election en mass BUT, here's my 2 cents.

Yes it was a major blow to the rebulicans.  They got owned because the people do not want a spend spend congress who is corrupt to boot.

If you look past the congressional elections there where many conservative victories out there.  These matter more to the little guy than electing some suit to go to DC and do the bidding of D/RNC.

For example:

Quote
The GOP lost. Conservatism prevailed. "San Francisco values" may control the gavels in Congress, but they do not control America.
-Property rights initiatives limiting eminent domain won big.
-MCRI, the anti-racial preference measure, passed resoundingly.
-Congressman Tom Tancredo, the GOP's leading warrior against illegal immigration--opposed by both the open-borders Left and the open-borders White House--won a fifth term handily.
-Gay marriage bans won approval in 4 states.
-And as of this writing, the oil tax initiative, Prop. 87--backed by deep-pocketed Hollywood libs, is trailing badly in California.

Just a few bright spots in this election.  Again as said before democracy prevailed above all and that is a great thing.  The American people have spoken.

Because of such narrow margins, this, and any election based on the current voter turnout, is just a wash - 50% this, 50% that - apparently we don't know what we want. . . maybe these toss ups should go to the independents.
