no one was vultching.  you shot me from ack gun as as I was deacking because your manned ack guns were hitting us as we barely went wheels up.  I was rtb out of fuel and slash27 "vultched" me.  he explained that he thought I was running to the ack, I was rtb.  moneyguy attacked republic and myself then went to land.  stupid me thinking I had just been attacked reversed and killed him.  he cried foul.

this map set up tends to create confusion.  with the exception of an 8yr old and his 15 yr old brother who have repeatedly been switching sides and fragging players I have personally seen no clear evidnce foul play by anyone.  I'll chalk up a few incidents by both teams to general frustration.

perhaps there should be all one country on the big island or divide the big island in the middle for the okinawa map.  that should be left up to the staffers to decide I'm sure that for the next map there will better discussion and consideration given to team/field placements.

inspite of the occasional frustration the fights have been good.

I always thought the CT was suppose to be different than the MA other than the name, but more along the lines of GAMEPLAY.The vulching, base capping, base taking is generally for the Main Arena. In the CT you always got a fair fight, they would let you up, gain altitude then cold merge for a really good time.

NOT anymore. The AvA is slowly becoming what the MA is today minus the Jankie restrictions.Hopefully with all these new idea's we are coming up with to get people into the AvA, we can show them all some positive gameplay, so when they get tired of the same ol same ol, they will come back into the AvA where they know the gameplay is awesome and the stupidity level is at it's lowest!

I think the Okinawa map is a good example of why HiTech sets a minimum distance of 3/4 sector for any map in the MAs.  It is too easy to find yourself climbing out of your base only to be over the opponents base before you hit 2K.

That being said, if you find yourself over the enemy base, get the heck out of there.  I asked two or three separate times in one sortie for guys on my side to get out from over the enemy base and let the Spittys up.  They would start to move, then turn back as soon as a plane appeared on the runway.

Oddly, one person asked "What am I supposed to do?  Hug my own ack?"

We need some kind of buffer between the fields to let both sides get up and get a modicum of alt before engaging, and eliminate any excuse for hanging out over the enemy field.

IMO, of course.

I'll vouch for the proximity of the two bases being just a little bit too close.

On the flip side of the coin, there were only a few times where I ever really found myself cursing the ack, and I think only once did I see someone (on my team actually) rtb for ack cover.

To stay on the optimistic side, the close proximity did make for some exciting dogfights in the weeds.

didn't mean it to come off that way just using it as an example of the confusion that abounded.  I vultched xocet today under similar circumstances and I never vultch.  well now it's almost never.

OM instigated a good change tonight with the middle of the island airfields in axis hands. very close fights and yet far less ack confusion.

the ackinawa map has been tamed.  perhaps the wise and all knowing staffers will take note and make it the pardigm for this map.
