Hmmm......
You guys able to be HEARD? If so, you may be running into a problem I've had for years (literally).
For me, vix is 100% fine in every arena
except the TA and LW Orange. In those arenas, and in only those arenas,
Every Single Time, I cannot hear vox at all. All other game sounds are fine. I do not get the name highlight when others talk, to tell me that a transmission is being received. I can be heard just fine, however -- which is the freaky part since send/receive apparently use the same channel. As near as we can tell, SOMETHING between HTC's server and my ISP's cable into the house is slicing off the vox or its identifying info. No one has any idea what is doing it, how its being done, or why it happens.
The bad news is that no one at HTC has any idea what could do this. In fact, Skuzzy at one point told me there is NO WAY that my vox problem could happen, that it makes no sense from a programming or network standpoint. Unfortunately, my computer disagrees with him....
Gotta admit that I kinda hope you poor guys ARE having the same problem, becuase that might get some resources committed to figuring out what's going on!!
Some testing procedures I've been through to help isolate the problem:
1) Check to see if present with direct connection to modem (ie without router)
2) Make sure no antivirus or firewall has ports blocked in the critical region. (Off the top of my head, I recall that AH vox uses a per session randomly selected port between 2000-6000, though I can't swear to the exact numbers).
3) Check your vox capability on another computer, and if possible another ISP connection. This does not require a fully AH
play capable computer -- all you need is to get the program to run, and then go to a hangar and try vxo. Frame rates are irrelevant.
4) And, of course, make sure the obvious stuff is right. (Since its obvious, I assumed everyone has already tried thsi -- but o be sure I'm listing these things anyway.) Go to control panel and make sure the mikes and sound equipment is connected properly, and that appropriate volumes are being generated. Of course, if you're not seeing the "received vox" name ID highlight in the top right corner, its less likely to be a sound issue and more likely to be a network send/recieve problem.
