But how much of that is "made it home safely" and how much of that is "really screwed up the final approach"?

I know this aint a p38, but it's a pretty violent landing nonetheless.

The mission was to sink a CV, which I accomplished but not after getting hit in 3 of my 4 gas tanks, my left wheel and tail wheel gone, 1 engine gone, all turrets out, oil leaks in my number 1 & 2 engines, and a pilot wound.
My engines cut out about 500 yards from the runway after running out of fuel, at which point I was too fast from anticipating a long glide (I climbed too high).

Slammed down on one wheel, and had to keep wings level while braking with my only remaining gear. End result, I couldn't bleed all the speed off before I got to the end of the runway, so I hit full right rudder (had enough speed for it to matter) and the plane's left wing gouged the cement, ripping it off and spinning the plane around to face the direction I had landed.

My crew threw up all over the back.
