The only thing I can hold my hands up to is what you call a "vulch-fest" but I have only ever done that in retaliation for the very thing you are posting about. I admit that before killshooter, when the same person repeatedly interrupted a duel, and after I had warned them what would happen, I would try to stop them from upping until they got the message. With some of the persistent griefers it was the only way to get through to them. Often it worked and they didn't interrupt duels anymore, sometimes it only made things worse. Yes I know it was wrong, but we all get frustrated at the kind of interference you have described. Unfortunately, by taking the law into my own hands, others would arrive after the original offense and only witness the retaliation, so it appeared to some as though I was dirtier than the true culprits. In my case it really was only retaliation for the players who enjoyed spoiling those high quality fights we all cherish.

As I said before, I understand where you are coming from, almost anyone who uses the DA for any length of time has experienced it. When it happened to me I preferred to take it up with the individual concerned. If it happened in the arena, I chose to deal with it in the arena. You clearly prefer to vent on the boards.

I really haven't had any problems since kill shooter has been on, so if you are trying to blame someone for your current problems in the DA you are shooting way off target on this one.

selective memory is a wonderful thing.  Do you remember calling me an fn foreigner and then vulchimg me because I told some one "here he goes again?"  Meaning you flaming someone on 200?  I bet you don't.

The point I try to make is that the trouble makers are rewarded and the people asking for help get flamed :aok

Badboy, If I'd be you, I'd stop digging. It may open huge can of worms.
You know, like Gunzo and Badboy teaming up in TA. I had some 5 hours worth on film. Maybe I still have them somewhere...

Are you talking about the Brit Badboy that makes the EM charts?  If so, very uncharacteristic of him.

Nope, I don't remember that, but I'm no angel, so if that's what happened I would like to offer my sincere apology.

As I've already said, I agree with you. You have chosen to deal with it differently than I would have, but I understand your reasons, so good luck with it.

Wait is this the BadBoy I am thinking of?

Taser=Dingbat=Wildduck=Badboy??

If it is badboy he is always running his mouth in the DA under one name or another.

Wasn't he also the one who used to wing with the muppets on one computer then use his other computer to hunt them down?

Or am I thinking of someone else?

If that's who this "Badboy" is, it's definitely not the original BadBoy that I was referring to.  The Badboy I was referring to was an old time AW and WB player and is the one that creates the EM charts we all love so much as well as being a writer for SimHQ.  Doesn't sound like the BadBoy you guys are talking about.

noone will ever "really" know the truth about said individual.  Why not ask him in this thread to name some of his shades names?

I dislike the MA now because of the huge maps and nothing but 15k alt monkey looking for picks and noting but score crazy players afraid to get killed in fear of ruining their score. Not to mention the long flight times.

So when the DA furball come out I was hooked. In the beggining it was great fun. Some 1v1 and a little 4v4 action too. One could fly around alone on the edge of the lake looking for a 1v1 or fly to the center for the multi con fight.

But now it is infested with nothing but gangbanging pickers. No one respects a 1v1 now. You can be way far way from everyone else in a nice fight and as soon as that is spotted by another player he just comes in and starts picking the slow plane. Friendlys dont even ask anymore.

Perhaps a smaller radar circle around the center...just a little smaller than the water to indicate the "multi engagement area". If you go in the circle you can expect to get ganged. I know the zeros like to fly like this. But if you are looking for a smaller fight...1v1 or 2v2 then stay out of the circle. This way you know which players want 1v1 and which players want gangbang play. Seems like a really simple solution. Of course some will disrespect this rule as there will always be some dweeb to ruin any good idea. But I think it might work. Besides how hard would it be to make simple circle on the map.

As long as folks build their ego's around their online pilot, it's not going to change.    As long as folks continue to see their name in lights and get their 'attaboys", it's not going to change.  As long as folks think they can't possibly lose a fight fairly, it won't change.  As long as folks can find a way to get under the skins of other players, it won't change.  As long as folks keep coming into the game in a bad mood, having had too much to drink, or some other reason to be cranky, it won't change.

Best bet is to sit back and enjoy the game for what it is, and when those 1 v 1s happen, enjoy em for what they're worth.

That or you remove kills landed messages, scores and 200.  Fights would be quieter, but it might give folks more reason to 'risk' their virtual lives in a decent fight without worrying about their virtual ego or 'reputation' as a super duper cartoon pilot :)

I beg to differ.

Most of the foul-mouthed comments and constant whining after being shot down comes from those guys not flying for score (at least they claim they do not, accompanied by occasional tirades against those who happen to have a "better" score, whatever that means)

EGO and it's bad consequences isn't tied to rank, score or whatever. It's rooted in the personality of that guy in front of the screen and was there even before he joined AH.
