Elfie, good progress

I stop smoking about four years ago. I remember those days and feeling.

When I felt like to have a smoke, I said to myself  'I don't deal with this right now.' and push all smoking related thoughts out of my head and went to do something meaningful.

Interesting.....even though it's been just over a day since I had a smoke....I didn't wake up and start hacking up lung cookies today.

You're getting better already, hope you make it.

I tried Chantix for 2 or 3 months but like others, it hit me in the belly. Quit taking the pill and - smoking again. I'm gonna quit again, just waiting for the "day" - it'll be soon.

The incentives are in place:  a cousin with one lung, another friend who has 2 - 6 months to live, a 25 year old son, and unexpected money that I want to spend on myself - not a hospital...

Keep it up Elfie, you can do it and, hopefully I can again to..

One thing I found helpful, was to keep track of the cigarettes that I didn't smoke. It was amazing how fast the number climbed over a thousand. Whatever works, use it !

Heh, I destroyed all the *leftover* cigarettes before I went to bed. Washed all the ashtrays and put them out of sight too.

One more thing...Don't even think about getting drunk, or even taking a drink for that matter for quite sometime.  Alcohol is the fastest way back to smoking.

I don't partake of alcoholic beverages so that won't be an issue for me.  :rock

Congratulations.

I celebrated my one year anniversary in January from quitting smoking.  I think quitting is different for everyone with its own set of unique challenges for each quitter.

Hang in there.

Seriously.....you smoked?

Granted, we've never actually met so please don't take offense......I just kinda always pictured you as the type of person that has no vices and never did. :D

Wtg on the one year mark! I quit on my mom's birthday, so I'd never forget the date, she doesn't know yet though.  :D

I quit a 37 year habit.  The state of Texas decided to impose this tax last year and it pissed me off.  So I quit, cold turkey, and never looked back.  Sometimes it is good to be a person of convictions....or as my Wife would say,.."Geez, you are one stubborn, hard headed person!". :)
