Guadalcanal - late Frame 3 AAR
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:21:41 PM »
<best read in a Steve Irwin mindset>

The wounded wildcat spots a herd of gazelles passing a short distance away.

Seeing the already wounded and struggling individual, he singles him out from the herd.

He charges...

A quick kill!

What's this... another cripple...

Obviously unsatisfied, the cat pounces again

and rips into another victim

another kill!

At this point, the fleeing gazelles are no longer fleeing, they turn to fight back.

The wildcat learns that perhaps he bit off a little bit more than he could chew attacking this herd.

However, this fatal lesson is not fully appreciated until a third victim is dealt a lethal blow.

Unfortunately, my death preempted Infidelz's barbeque  :D

Well done, Alpo.  :aok

VMF-251's Airacobras feasted on unescorted Vals and and Kates north of A1 when we upped after the naval action. Brought down a total of 16 bombers, with 2 A6Ms added to the tally by Hammerr late in the frame. After a lucky hit from a Kate's rear gunner I spent the entire frame flying with a hole in my left fuel tank so big Rosie O'Donnell's butt couldn't plug it (to put it into perspective: I rearmed once and the tank was empty almost right as I got off the runway!)
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

lol Squire.

Enjoyed your AAR Alpo. ;)

Mongrels were slotted to escort the AK's from A1 to A10. 50% in P-39's heavy, and 50% in the F4F. About 1/2 way there one of our P-39's flights had to break off and engage some A6M2's. Before we arrived at A10 all the P-398's had to drop their bombs in the water. The F4F's called an all clear and the AK's dropped on A10. The P39's dove and began to straff. After just one pass some Zekes came in and spoiled our fun. I think it was the Jokers Jokers squad. Joker2 bagged 8 Kills! WTG! Spite in his squad got me. :)

Here is one screen shot I have. Just lit up this A6M2 clearing a squadies 6. Was amazed he did not blow. Moments later he caught fire. His buddy was behind me and my AC was pepperd with holes. I had a few myself. I bailed less than a minute later.

This was my first kill I have successfully landed in FSO in quite some time. I missed Frame 2 this FSO, but Both Frame 1 and 3 I landed successfully. Had a great time! Great Setup! <S> GD.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Apologies to Seano for the fight over A1. Your pass was perfect as we were trying to egress out of the area. You caught me from slightly below, and I never saw you coming. Your pass ruptured both my wing tanks, causing me to lose all my fuel in less than a minute. Scared the hell outta me too. Thought I was dead. But you didn't finish me off  :huh. Ended up deadsticking it almost a sector and a half and landed successfully at A37. It was pucker factor the entire way.  :pray Actually made the frame very memorable. From the logs, i see your night was a good one. You made mine interesting too!  :salute

Wtg on on the landing.  :aok

As I get very few kills in FSO and past scenario's, you would think they would be my most memorable.
Well they're not. Bringing home a wounded bird or just fullfilling the orders like last Friday's
escort of the AK's are. MA is just something to do until Friday Squad Operations.
