It was nothing like that.. interest rates were like 18% to buy a home.. inflation was up.. unemployment was up to 10% it was like the great depression...

I don't think one person here will tell you that cars got better milage and were better from 77 to 82.. they were awful and.. he made us retrofit older cars with smog devices that made them get as much at 5 mpg less... if they would run at all..  people used less oil cause they were broke thanks to him

solar panels were so weak back then that mandating them was a bunch of crap... people sucked up the huge tax rebates and incentives and put up crap solar panels and solar water heaters.. carpet bagger and fly by night contractors made a killing...

You would be hard pressed to find even one system that was put in back then still in operation.

He gave us the department of education and the department of energy..  we have worse education and worse energy than ever.

We weren't talking about recession back then..  we were talking about depression.

I do think that when enough former middle class people can no longer eat.......it will happen.

First of all, if they can't eat, they're not middle class anymore.

Second of all, I think you're underestimating the modern American's tolerance for abuse. They might complain, they might even yell and scream, but the comfort and security that this society has provided for generations has yielded a population largely consisting of soft, fat mammels who know nothing of what it means to be pragmatic in their own self-preservation.

Until they start to starve, expect little to no change. The vast majority does not have enough pride in itself or its nation to do much more than sit back, eat an extra soft-taco for FourthMeal, and watch some Springer.

Never happen. The populace has been so well-tamed the government can get away with anything if they use a light touch.

They start 'em young. Fighting is alway 100% of the time wrong for any reason. Tag is considered a violent game, boys get expelled for drawing pictures of guns or pointing their finger and saying "bang". Any sign of male behavior is medicated with ritalin. You don't get Boston Tea Partys out of a generation like this.

Another irony, after trying to psychologically castrate boys for 18 years, they then expect these boys to go into the millitary and fight their quagmires for them, against some of Earth's most feral residents. Madness!
