This woman is a avidly preaching about abstinence only should be the only thing taught in schools. This puts her in the same hypocrite status as Gore was in because her own daughter who was likely only 16 at the time got pregnant. Which shows how wrong the women is with her preaching the abstinence only policy.

Bristol getting knocked up doesn't make Palin a hypocrite. Bristol is her own person who obviously chose to disobey her parents with regards to premarital sex. Gee, that really puts the Palins in a unique category doesn't it?

I'm sure Sarah Palin still believes abstinence is the best policy. After all, if Bristol had followed it she wouldn't be pregnant now, would she?

In conclusion, I'd say that the mainstream Christianity of today's politicians is antithetical to 18th century deism.

Do me a favor and run down through the list of signers of the Declaration and signers of the Constitution and sort them into those that followed a particular religion and those that were Deists.

Let's see if most were traditionally religious, deists or atheists.

I'm betting we find the significant majority to be traditionally religious. How about you?

I'll give you that one, and I can do so gladly in the case of the Declaration.  Even Gouverneur Morris is often mentioned as a deist.

They reportedly pulled her out of school for 5 months during her mother's pregnancy.  That was one of the things that started the rumour that Palin wasn't Trig's mother.  Obviously that rumour was false.

You brought it here knowing exactly what would happen. You went looking for dirt and found an eRumor then posted that there was an eRumor. You knew that by posting it someone would go searching for it. It just happened to be me this time.

The original rumor was that Sarah Palin was actually raising her daughters child and had not been pregnant herself. How is that even close to the truth that Sarah Palin was in fact pregnant and gave birth to a boy with down syndrome? The fact that her daughter did turn out to be pregnant is a different story entirely since Sarah didn't cover up anything.

Abstinence can work and in fact is the only fool proof form of birth control if it is followed. Other forms of birth control work quite well also, but they have to actually be used as well. The fault isn't with the mother's teachings, it is with the child not following the teachings of her parent.

First off I didn't go looking for dirt anywhere.. it was posted on a webmaster forum I vist, so I dug around a bit to verify that there was some substance behind it prior to posting it here. I found reason to believe it was true  and after that I posted there was a eRumor floating around.  Given the info that was out there, it was very reasonable to suspect that the youngest baby was the daughters.

Actually if you want the current eRumors is it's still possible that the the youngest baby is still the daughters. The timing is still right for that daughter to have gotten pregnant a second time. Women are very fertile right after they have a kid, so the daughter could have very easily been ripe for a second one.

Then there is the eRumor that the daughters baby daddy is a 26 year old black man named Levi.. (now wouldn't that be funny)  

Then of course there is the Dad has a DUI eRumor floating around, must have been partying with Jr Bush.

Now do I believe those eRumors lol well no, but hey you are crying about me posting rumors but at least I dug around and confirmed that it had some substance. I didn't just post some dumb rumor off a blog with out looking for facts myself.

On the last part... sure abstinence "can" work, but it sure as hell didn't work in this case now did it? This is the entire point, the mom don't want sex ed taught in school, she thinks a "abstinence only" policy should be taught in "public" schools along with the intelligent design BS. The very fact that her own daughter couldn't even manage to stay abstinent just proves how wrong her ideas for schools are.

Toad, I can admit everything you suggest here, and my initial challenge to mainstream American Christians leaning on the founders still stands.

Our dialogue started with Palin's comment about it "being good enough for the founding fathers," well, the question is what is good enough for the founding fathers.  Clearly, the content of the Declaration and the Constitution, which is better described as deistic, not fideistic.

I also said a lot of the founders were deists, and you challenged me with the fact that most were not.  I admit that, but I think the most important founding fathers were.

Anyway, I don't expect to convince you with a simple back and forth over an internet bbs; but now you see my point of view, I see yours, and we can both read up on this topic further if it piques our interest.

It's not the point that she thinks "abstinence is the best policy" or not. I don't care what she thinks, hell I don't mind if that gets taught in school, it's a good idea to teach kids that. The ISSUE is the fact she think ONLY abstinence policy should be taught in school. So with that said it makes the fact that even her own daughter couldn't be abstinent a very REAL issue and shows just how wrong the women is on the subject.
