Sorry to hear that RedTop ~ glad he left though.  We've got flash flood warnings all the way up here in our Central Texas County.

Yeah they cut us loose from work....not sure why..but.

At any rate...I don't think Austin area is gonna get anything really....could be wrong. Just some wind maybe...but rain looks like it will stay away.

Winds picking up here in Sugar Land.  We're sheltering-in-place.  1st hurricane for wife and kids so it'll be quite an experience.  We expect it to really pick up sometime after dinner.  The surge already coming in well ahead of the storm surge is really unexpected.  That's a big warning sign.  I can't believe there are folks still trying to ride it out along the coast.

Darwin in action. The gene pool there might just get a little clearer.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Exact same attitude in Biloxi, MS back in 1969 with Camille.  Many people died having a hurricane party.

My sister lived in Bethune during Hugo. She made my Bro-inlaw move back to Texas after that.

Downtown Houston is Closed... Major damage... 2.8 million still without power. Mongomery County (Conroe area) will not have power for 2-4 weeks. I heard 3 dead in Galveston, not confirmed officially. I have power in Katy Tx, though my Parents do not (Fulshear, TX). NO Ice anywhere, barely any gas.

Worst part is we slammed by a storm front last night, Bringing more rain than the hurricaine... Which flooded most of the Houston area and surrounding areas even more. People trapped in Houston homes because of Bayou Flooding and downed trees blocking streets.

More to come, gotta clean up.

I'd personally like to thank all the brain surgeons that cleaned their front yards immediately after the hurricane, and stuck everything down the storm drains. I appreciated it, especially when my home office flooded the night after the hurricane during much lighter rains. Thank you my dear neighbors.

I'm back.  The hurricane was hellacious and the devastation it left behind wasn't to good either. Obtaining basic items such as food and gas requires long waits in long lines.

The cool weather couldn't have come at a better time and we are lucky to have that and not the 100*F temps that we had a couple of weeks ago. I stocked up with water and perishable foods and I have been doing fine.

I'm glad to hear that you guys fared ok.

I hear ya.  My parents ran into the same problem with their neighbors.  They were told to stack the limbs and other debris on the lawn but most people stacked them in the street next to the curb.

My folks have a huge limb hanging by mere fibers over their fence and they are waiting for it to be trimmed.

Here in Conroe we have received most of our power as of last night and we are getting back to normal slowly.

Here in Ohio we lost power to 1.1 million customers. we still have around 150,000
people out of power. Trees down everywhere. I was out of power for 3 days.
what a wake up call. restraunts were running out of food. Batterys and ice were
sold out fast. Everything in my fridge was ruined. Ugly

I feel sorry for all those effected by this storm. I had irt easy compared to others.
