Assault Rifles have been banned since 1986 (Hughes Amendment) - and have actually been HEAVILY REGULATED since 1934 (National Firearms Act).

Also, why would a criminal worry about the law - they already operate outside of it.

I guess you're saying just one more law will do it and keep the dreaded assault rifles out of criminal hands. I guess you feel there are insufficient laws on the books already to keep assault weapons out of criminal hands. I guess you feel that criminals actually worry about breaking the gun control laws.

I'd say that all three assumptions are so wrong that they indicate a general lack of knowledge in the entire urban firearm situation.

As for "pull off 60 rounds a second" I would hope you are aware that a fully automatic rifle falls into the category of a Class III weapon. Dare I assume that you know what a Class III weapon is and what the requirements are for posessing one? Dare I assume you are aware of the percentage of firearms crimes resulting in death or injury to someone that involve a Class III weapon?

My suspicion is that you do not.

BTW I didn't see it posted, but that website is owned by the same group that Obama worked for in Chicago. I don't think they are trust worthy. To tell the truth I'm not totally sure about the NRA either. They can be a bit zealous.

A standard deer rifle is also FAR MORE POWERFUL/DEADLIER than any Assault Rifle.  It's completely amazing how utterly ignorant people are about firearms in this country...  The Democrats know this, and use it to full advantage.

A quick check of my pocket guide to the US Constitution...........I don't see the word hunter or hunting in the 2nd Amendment

What If I as a citizen want an assault rifle?  Why can't I have one?
