One local district won't allow homemade lunches. Everything must be labeled for nutrition (i.e. Lunchables). My sister had a spasm over that one.
And she tolerates this why?
They ever tried that here. And they would get a hardy ho ho and a kiss my Mo$%# arse.
They sent a note home last year asking parents to not send peanut butter for lunch with our kids.
After looking into it. It seems one kid in the entire middle school is allergic to peanut butter.
So I sent a note back.
(I think I still have a copy on file)
"While it is terrible and I feel badly that there is one or two children in the school who have allergies to certain foods.
You dont inconveinence and entire school population for one or even a few children.
I know of two children that in two years are going ot be attending township schools.
One is highly allergic to products that contain meat.
The other is highly allergic to products that have dairy in them (Milk, Eggs)
Is the school planning on not serving foods that contain those products?
Or are you going to separate the children from those products so they do not come in contact with them?
When the school starts paying my food bill. Then you can tell me what lunches not to send with my daughter.
Until that time. I, and I alone, will decide what foods my daughter brings into school for lunch. and that may very well include. As it does today
A peanut butter sandwich"
I waited two days then called to make sure they received and read the note.
" We've gotten a few letters like yours. I see your point." was the responce.
One thing I noticed is public schools talk a good game. And in most cases everyone goes along like a bunch of lemmings.
But typically easily cave in and crumple when faced with one or two angry parents.
Your sisters school system does it because the parents let them get away with it.
