Self made Flight Model (and game demo)
« on: December 19, 2008, 04:35:19 PM »
Hi

I have been coding now and then a basic resource for the simple and straight forward canyon air-race flight game... The flight model.

After 4.5 months part time studding, coding & testing work I finally could made this:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ogjlzlxj3ng
This demo is made with Blender Game Engine.

CONTROLS
There are available only a pitch and roll controls with mouse movements. You can reset the mouse with mouse middle button. No throttle control yet.

Note
The sky dome object and texture by Nikolay116 (gameblender.org).
The Packard Merlin V-1650 engine sound for the P51-D by unknown AH2 user sound pack.
The canyon object and texture by me.

BTW
The biggest reason for this project was my need for the math & physic re-practicing.

Just in case the reference links to the Blenderartists forum

The target of the project... but few times better from the racers POV

That Terrain is cool.  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

UPDATED game demo with AIR-RACE track

Hi

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the late response.

@ SouthLanda
You can exit the Blender 'Game mode' with ESC-key.

I made some changes:
- A new terrain, based to the Brontosaurus GSLS test.
- A new Air-Race track with gates by me.
- The rolling is now more responsive.
- The G-force effect is added to the Lift / Weight calculations.
- A tuned 'plane' specification.

NOTE!
This demo requires a Blender 3D v2.48a  installation:
