the NOE type mission you see so often, is not a problem, it is a solution..

fact of the matter is the game is so gamey, that NOE are the end result..

ortherwise what happens?  your massive air armada arrives..  2 or 3 guys up LA7s disregard everyone else and go straight for the goons, or running troops, getting shot down over and or ramming if necessary..  boom, mission fail..

30 guys beaten by 2 or 3 suicidal people..

so Yea, the NOE is a gamy way to take a base, because AH is a gamy game.. well more fairly, it is played gamy.

the NOE 110/goon missions are just the natural evolution of tactics in the game..

what would help?

if you get shot down you have to wait 1 minute to up from the same field again (or you can up immediately from a different one)..

that would eleminate the ability for 1 or 2 suicidal people to defeat an entire mission, and NOEs would no longer be the only really effective way to take a base, and would not be as prevalent.

currently there is absolutly no penalty to for death, you can up and die over and over as fast as you can, so goon drivers are dead meat, no matter how many escorts they have, 1 guy can usually still kill them, sure he dies almost instantly as a result... but so what?  hes back in the air in 5 seconds..   that situation happening over and over has lead to what we have now.

people bark and cry for more and more UNREALISTIC features in the game (cant pork fuel to 0, bomb craters dont hinder takeoff/landing... etc etc) then the same people piss and moan when as a result the type of play needed to take bases evolves into a more gamy way of accomplishing that goal..

introduce more realistic ways to capture bases and you will see people use them, make it so you have to do "tard" things to do it, and that's what you will get..

but I still find it less lame to be the NOE mission, than to be the 1 guy dieing 10 times in 2 minutes trying to suicide into the goon... well unless its in a Japanese plane, then it sort of makes sense.. not really.

I'd rather we remove base capture all together, hows that?   :aok

::edit::

guess I should do more than just troll.

If your normal attack with 10 or more people is being thwarted by 2 or 3 people we need to have a talk.  Sounds like you all need some TA time to learn how to escort a goon and how to properly CAP a base.

meh...

Spying is really a low class, no honor thing for one to do.

I have had players on my country change sides and p.m. me info before.  (has happened many times actually) I let said player(s) know that i'm the WRONG person to do that with, and kindly informed them that in the future to not do such things with me.  (and of course didn't "do" anything with the intel I was given)

It is a matter of principal, and a weenie move in general.

I remember one night myself and several in my squad were looking for a particular CV to kill  (we had taken the port, and wanted the CV).  We musta looked for 2-3 hours for the CV group.  I even ran a 262 out of gas flying around looking for it.

I was gonna log so, so I switched sides just to see where it was.  I laughed on squad at where it ended up being (we were close) but nobody in the squad even asked (those that were not login') or even THOUGHT about asking me where it actually was.

I think it boils down to breeding and how one was raised.  I once got caught cheating at a young age at a game of UNO by my Grandfather.  Needless to say when he was done "talking" to me, I understood that OUR family does not do such things.  Heck, I once watched my Dad drive 20 miles back to a store that gave him one dollar too much in change.  Here is a guy making 6 figures blowing 40 min to an hour of his time over a buck.  It wasn't the dollar amount, it was the principal.  For him, it was worth the hour to do the "right thing".

Some people have honor.  Some people think that such things matter.

Some don't.

Much respect for the former, and much pity for the latter.

I don't really care for the spying thing if anyone is doing it, goes against my honor code, but then again I suppose it could be excused somewhat as being a historical mechanic of war.

WingNutt...take a breath... ;-)

The Original Post was about Spying...not Base Capture.

My post was intended to explain how some folks can take a feature of the game of which they either aren't aware exists, or don't understand, and misinterpret it to something else.

Just a thought...  :-)

OK remove base capture and while you're at it, remove porking ords, VH's, fighter and bomber hangers, and install an altitude cap so we don't have high altitude peeps come picking.  Anything else we can remove so we can play ping pong with paddles that look like airplanes?  I know... let's just make it all just a fighter arena where everybody spawns at 10K and we can play "Aces High Quake".   Geez guys.... Think about what your vitching about here.  The topic was about spying and who really cares?  This is a WWII combat semi-simulation and in all wars we had spying.  We just have to use common sense to counter spying to get your mission accomplished.  The world has digressed into having somebody else fix it for me and it's NOT HTC's responsibility to stop spying!  It's our own responsibility to take measures to counter the effects of the SPYing or suffer the consequences.  If you are intent on announcing your plans on an open country channel and complain about your mission being intercepted because a spy gave your intententions to your enemy, you don't have a right to vitch about it then!

I've flown several times with 68Dummy and I have to say he does fight for the side he is on. I would be surprised if he turned out to be spying. Just my humble opinion of him.

I have been known to accipurposely give out info on where I am and what alt...........

yea but in aces high unlike real life, you wont get shot or hunted down for spying

so I cant see how spying on this game can be ok, because they did it in real life

but in real life it was alot more complicated then just pressing a button and getting the whole picture in a few seconds lol

This game is about air combat.  Everything else is a side show to get air combat going.

The NOE base steal, rinse repeat smacks of "air-quake" much more than those who enjoy a good dogfight.  At least we agree about the posting misshuns and spies.  Kind of.

Wasn't trying to be mean.  And I did read your whole post, it's broken into multiple quotes so you can see each of my responses for clarity sake.

I wholeheartedly disagree.  Look at the Aces High Front Page.  I quote "Engage in the Internet's Premiere WWII Combat Experience".  Is there an air combat only in small type that I missed somewhere or is this a personal opinion?  Aces High for better or worse, like it or not, encompasses all aspects of WWII combat.
