Never had just one plane I liked to fly...in fact, my list of planes flown are probably 3/4 of the set.

The Spit 8 has been a favorite for many months along with the f6 and fm2 but have been flying the 51 nearly as much.

Sometimes I have a hard time going back to the Ki-84 and getting kills. It has more to do with learning the guns again than anything else. I flew it quite often many tours back.

I'd love to learn the 38 but fear of dieing repeatedly trying to get a handle on it discourages me.

Part of learning the 38 is not worrying about dying since we don't really die :)

The beauty of it being a game is there is no risk to trying to find the limits of a particular bird.  Should you fail a few times you get to keep on coming back to try again :aok

I am not aiming to tell anyone what to do but it occurs to me the real skill is choosing a plane and learn to fly it well. As in learn to work around its limitations and discover any hidden strenghts. Then exploit the assumptions others make about it to your advantage by surprising people.

I have chosen the spit 16 :rofl

(Actually I have decided to downgrade to the spit 8)

that's actually a good piece of advice dude.

i've chosen the p38......unfortunately., i still suck in it.  :rofl :rofl

I have always advised new squaddies if they are going to learn a new ride to fly it at least for a full tour.  (if not 2)

I disagree withg the premise that people need to do only one thing, ride in only one machine.  There are some people who play this game that use one ride and thats all they do.

They become so good in that one ride, with the same two or three proven strong moves over and over again that they actually become a sort of drag to deal with.  Also, they develop attitudes of cartoon superiority that are unhealthy for the game overall.

Some people need to expand their repertoire a bit to keep things interesting for themsleves and everyone else, to keep things in perspective, fresh, challenging.

One trick ponies do become a bit of a bore after ten years, don't they?

I fly several each night. but I have my 'main' ride, the f4u1a, I've stuck with it and enjoy it the most. But starting last tour I flew the spit9 a lot, and this tour the spit8. each plane has its time and place. learnin a new plane is frustrating and fun. but having my favorite is fun too.

I gave a good % of my time to the 109E last tour...got a lot of assists :P

It is fun to commit a little extra time to a certain plane.

I tend to predominately fly one fighter at a time, not so much out of a desire to master it's intricacies as it's whatever it is that historically interests me at the time.  I started the game on the 51 fresh off from reading Anderson and Yeagers' biographies and wanting to recreate their exploits, after several years of that I got interested in the PTO and the carrier raids in the central pacific and Solomon islands and lo and behold I was flying the F6F now.  From there I decided that I wanted to learn more about New Guinnea which where I'm at now.  Flying the 38 95% of the time probably.  But I also like to up the occasional P-39D... it's pretty rare for me to want to fly bombers yet I really enjoy a low level raid in a 354th painted B-25 strafer for some reason.  The history is what makes me play the game.

I have to wonder at the logic of ignoring the other 70 odd aircraft in favor of one.
Everyone has their favorites, certain birds lend themselves to specific styles, but one of the
quickest ways to learn an opponenets capabilities is to try driving one yourself.

Of course if I remember correctly, Yrables is one of those "fly historically!" guys
who wants Axis vrs Allies style arenas.

Or shooting them down...... often.

As for someone thinking flying one plane is like cheating..... flying many of the other planes are simply boring. They turn on a dime roll like a twister. They are lite and nimble. Very friendly to drive.

Just simply depends on what you normally fly and how it compares.
