Oh I'd be happy to be wrong.
History tells me I'm not.
-BenCould you please tell us all what games you've created, designed or developed and successfully put into market?
ack-ack
He's obviously talking out of his.. err.. umm
Anal orifice.
What he should be saying is. "flight sims that go to high end graphics dont work for HIM"
I've ben playing with flght sims either single player or online for a long time too. Going back some 25 years on a C64.
Flight sims dont go under because of high end graphics. They go under either because the novelty has worn off. Often do to lack of improvements/advancements (Same game different map) or because the company has run it into the ground or simply decided they arent going ot support it anymore.
I've yet to see one single flight sim that died because it went to higher and graphics.
I'll paint you a picture of whats really going on here.
What you have is someone who always goes "cheap"
Someone who is so cheap they make Ebenezer Scrooge look like a bonafide philanthropist.
Probably buys the least expensive system he can find in a store and thinking because its "new" He should be able to do everything short of create life with it.
Not taking into account that the only thing "new" about that super duper el cheapo deal he got is the fact that the parts in it hadnt been used yet.
but the technology is already old.
So he gets this Yugo home and checks out the games hes' been wanting to play for the last two years but couldnt because his last Model T machine couldnt handle it. Sure enough he can play. But only for a short while because those games are also evolving to take advantage of the newer technology. Pretty soon he's on the outside looking in.
So he keeps this dinosaur around for a couple of years refusing to upgrade because "Hey. this is a brand new computer. I shouldnt have to upgrade"
And then when it comes time where he decides to buy a "newer" machine. Does he learn form his past experiences? Nooooooo
He sees a sale in a store for a really visually nice looking computer he can get for $1.99 that come with a monitor and printer (Arguably often the best part of those "deals") And he thinks because its "new" He should be good to go
Pretty soon hes right back to where he was before. Not enough system to run the stuff he wants to run.
Disgusted. he get ticked off
But...Instead of placing the blame where it belongs. On himself. He blames the game makers. Or the machine.
I know this picture because I've seen it time and again with my sister in laws.
Wife comes home.
"My sister just bought a really nice new computer for nephew/neice. and she said she got a really good deal on it. Only (insert el cheapo amount) and it even came with a monitor and printer. How come yours cost twice as much and you didnt get all that?"
"Well what did she get?"
"I dont know. but it looks really nice and the guy at the store said its a good one"
"Yea ok. At that price I doubt its a
good one. How long before I start getting the phone calls to find to whats wrong."
Now fast forward 6 months
"My sister is having a problem with their computer. she just got her son the new XXXGame for his birthday and he cant get it to load. she thinks maybe they have a virus. I told her you would stop by after work and take a look at it for her."
"gee thanks for volunteering me"
Head over to sister in laws house and look at the machine. look at the game. look at the machine again.
"this game wont run on this machine"
"Why not?"
"It doesnt meet minimum requirements."
"What do you mean it doesnt meet the minimum requirements?? Thats a brand new computer. I just got it 6 months ago. the guy at the store said it was a good one.'
"Well. two years ago. it was a good one..actually it was a decent one. Now..not so much. But hey. thats a really nice monitor and printer you have there, and that uber desk you bought with the money you saved is really something"
I kept telling her time and time again. Dont always go cheap. If your going ot do anything but look at email and surf the web. Dont buy without me. If you do. Get the most expensive one you can afford.
She only listened to me once. and that machine they still use 3 years later but hey one out of 4 aint so bad. right?
THAT is what we're probably dealing with
