I can never figure out what the target audience of Cosmo is. If you look at the "featured articles" on the cover they're all things that appear to be lifted from your average woman's mag. And yet they put a photo of some provocatively posed and dressed female celebrity (sometimes the definition of "celebrity" is rather loose at that) clearly for the sake of any men who happen to be looking at the news stand.

No, that's the seed of envy. A girl sees that and thinks to herself, "If I don't look that good, I'll never be worth it." Then she buys all the beautification products advertised in the magazine in an attempt to look like the cover model.
