Wow, I had the time of my life last night defending a fleet. I think it was C91 vs a rook A230 in orange. It started by simply taking A231 and then taking the Vbase on that island. I then took control of the CV and positioned it within range of A230...they weren't happy with the CV off their coast and we got waves and waves of ord from bombers IB. I was in the 5" and was in command of the CV. We had B26s, 38s, 51s, stukas, 17ss, 24s, lancs, all the works trying to bomb it. We had a pretty good aircraft defense up as well. One of the guys ended up killing A230's ordinance, but I kept the CV still near there as the guys were having a blast.
Many started coming from a nearby base (A19) with higher bombers including the 17s, lancs, 24s, and even 234s at one point. I didn't get many guys before they dropped, but since they came in some sort of conga line with 5-10 minutes between attacks, I was able to plan how to turn the CV, and evade the bombs. the 234s hit, but did not sink. Many other sets also dropped but I evaded accordingly. I think they finally gave up as I started to sail the CV SW as A231 was being attacked.
I then logged after the CV was finally safe and still afloat. Chances are it got sunk later, but I and my defense guys kept it alive through two+ hours of constant bombing and jabo attacks. It was much fun, and I salute each and every guy who was there last night! I didn't know how much fun actually sitting on a CV and turning it was! You get a sense of accomplishment when you send something into hell and it makes it out alive.
