Beautiful day out here in the bay. We have wind against tide so drifting for fluke is out. Decided to hit some wrecks for Black Sea bass.  We're hammering them :x. Pics to follow once I get home....gotta get back to the rail  :aok

All good points Morf, taken into account the overall weight. Still discussing with the wife, as she fishes as well - given we need to complete the house (got  a lot to do, new roof, new electrics, new kitchen etc) this is still going to be in the planning stage for a while lol..........so not made a firm decision as yet.

Always good to get info/opinions early - stops me prevaricating later kinda deal.

Thanks all,

Wurz

  Wurz,

Have you looked at what coleman has to offer,ya I know maybe not the best stuff but they have an extensive line of products to look at and then if you find a design that fits the bill you can always check for a "better" unit.

Coleman has a semi pontoon unit that seats 2 with comfort, room for a cooler and can be powered with a trolling motor or paddles. They even have several pedal boats that work like a bike, point is unless you really want or need a yak there's plenty of alternitives.

If you want some real fun,try a float tube! Even a small fish will pull you around unless you use your flippers to stop it!

Nice pic . I don't guess we have purch down here in Mississippi . They don't look like Brim and those in the pic kind of look like a rock bass to me .

My Catawba trees are slam full of worms.  let me know if you need some

Had a great day yesterday, fishing was great....Caught a bunch of short fluke, but the Black Sea Bass fishing was where it was at.....they are scrappy fish usually average around 2lbs  14/16 inches... I got the fishzilla of the bunch.....   6lbs and 22 inches  Thing was a beast. In the scheme of things, a really nice fish, being that the NJ state record is 8lbs

We finished with 46 Keeper sea bass , just as many or more throw backs, and 2 keeper Ling...... , a bunch of small fluke. It was one of those days where my arms just got sore from reeling them in

Fishzilla

A case of Sam Adams and 4lbs of blue crab claws in the fridge...fish fry tonight!!

some yellow perch we caught last weekend
(Image removed from quote.)
caught a bunch more that were much smaller, I hate cleaning tiny fish  :lol

Nice! I love targeting perch. I troll a small daisy chain with earthworm rig from a canoe or kayak to find the school, and then use a mepps once I find them. Yellow perch are very tasty, white perch are even better. I'm sure you have them in VT. Fish on!

Not a bad option Morf - prefer to be in a single seater, so I can get some space away from wife's talking lol.......dont get me wrong, love her to death, but she talks too much at times (yes, I've told her too lmao)

Found a kayak with a motor on it already, only concern with that is if I'm camping for a few days, once it runs out of juice, I'd have to paddle (yep, I'm lazy snicker)

That said, found a couple of "cheaper" options, which I"m investigating now. It would be simpler if I was closer to a lake - think test rides etc. Found out the cost of the hobie, 2949 - which aint cheap lol....

Thanks for keeping me grounded, always appreciated.

Bailey, I'll get to the East Coast eventually - before I had the time, but no money, now (with a job) I have the money, but not the damn time lol....typical.

That is a great offer, hope to take you up on it at some stage (would be fun if everyone else in this thread turned up at the same time lol.....now THAT would be a fishing trip to remember.

Current contender for my kayak (much cheaper than a hobie) http://www.basspro.com/Ascend-FS10-SitIn-Angler-Kayak-Camo/product/11081905012223/

Morf, I like the way you think lol............

BOYS I'VE BEEN SAVED! Went fishing for the first time this year (rod and reel, that is) with Pop yesterday and we caught around 15 SLAB crappie. Would've had more, but the lake we were at is notorious for killing the bite an hour after first sight of sun. Always good to catch some crappie. No fish eats better  :aok

For those of you who use soft plastics, then you might wanna hit these guys up. Buster's Baits has a bunch of lures from craws to flukes, and i love my white fluke with a blood red tail.

So close yet so far, mbailey. Kentucky is just a hair far! At least where I'm at.  :lol

Just got back from the Blue River in Colorado and it was a great trip. Would have been better if I had caught any fish. We were at the mouth of Green Mountain Reservoir and the trout were jumping 5 feet away but wouldn't hit on anything we tried.  :bhead :bhead :bhead

But I had fun for my first time fly fishing.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Well be hitting the lake in the morning . Along with another 200 boat's , lol . The Crappie are hitting like MAD ! . Funny thing  though . They will not hit anything but Bandits crank bait's . Will post pic's when I get in . I will have 3 people in the boat so we will be able to keep 60 fish as long as their better than 12 inches .
