Oh man that was a cruel text mbailey!

There is a god and he believes in justice.   They only caught a few shorts.  With the extremely heavy rains over the last 2 days the bay is hungover from the fresh water runoff. It will kill the fishing for the next couple of days   Fishing until Monday or so will be really slow

I never wish bad fishing on anyone.  But a little corner of my psyche was smiling when he told me  :t

Back out again today.  Still cold windy and some what rainy  :(  Went to a different lake, Silver Lake, and was hoping the water would be a little warmer but it was still 45 degrees and the fish were a lot less active on this lake.  Suspending jerkbaits were the ticket today taking most (if not all) of the fish today.  Between my fishing partner and I we took 5 bass, 5 pike, a bullhead and 1 keeper walleye.  This being the best bass of the day:

Since this is a fishing thread I wanted to throw in a plug for Bass Pro Shop's customer service.  I'm sure for every good experience there is someone that has had a bad one.  But for the way I was treated in the end it is worth mentioning. Being in the crappy climate that western NY is I figured this year I would get rain gear to allow me to fish through crappy weather.  Not only to get more days on the water but also because I had planned on fishing tournaments this year.  So I ordered Bass Pro's Pro Qualifier rain gear when it went on sale.  It was back-ordered when I ordered but I had contacted them beforehand and they said it would be back in stock at the end of April.  That would work for me since my first tournament wasn't till mid May.  The parka actually shipped early and I am wearing it in the picture above.  It is very nice and kept me warm and dry on both rainy days I have fished so far.  But at the end of April I checked status again on the bibs and they told me early May and feel free to check again at the end of the week.  Which I did yesterday.

At that time they told me the end of July for a ship date.  Which I said was unacceptable.  They ended up offering me the 100mph Bibs and a twenty dollar credit.  Which meant I would have to cough up 40 more dollars.  I went for it since I need the rain gear.  Well little later that day a higher tier of support called my cell phone and they ended up giving me the 100mph Bibs at the cost I paid for the Pro Qualifiers and I got to keep the $20 credit.  In essence I got the Bibs for $80 off.  And they are also FedEx next day shipping it at no charge.

I went from being down on Bass Pro to loving Bass Pro all in a matter of a couple hours.  :)

Like I said I'm sure there are others that have had bad endings with dealing with them.  But I figured this was worthy of sharing since I feel they went over and above what I was expecting to make it right.  :salute

Ive always found Bass Pros customer service to be exceptional...  Good to hear its a policy of theirs, not just a fluke.

wtg Valu  :aok

Bass Pro has always been good to me, save your receipts though, if the item price is reduced their system does not keep track of the price you paid, only the current price...They were good at trying to locate what I paid for an item, but since they were unable to do so (even called corporate) they could only return/refund for the current $...

Several years ago, AZG&F decided to try an online application system for big game tags (namely elk/sheep) where there was no AZ app fee. Cabela's assisted in helping numerous out-of-state outfitters apply for thousands of customers tags from around the world, the result AZ resident's chances of drawing were severely diminished, thankfully that was done away with, but many of us don't patronize Cabela's since. Bass Pro was not involved in that  :aok

I save a lot of money by going to Bass Pro before an offshore trip as the landings prices are high even for line and hooks.

I don't have any pictures as I refuse to use that photobucket site but...We were fishing on Lake Ft. Gibson yesterday evening and caught 3 keeper bluecat at about 8-9 pounds apiece...the wind drove my wife back to the truck so I decided to cast net a few more shad to put in the freezer, I stood up from my chair and didn't move more than 3 feet away, I threw the net, when it hit bottom I saw the middle of the net rise up   I started pulling it in and the thrashing commenced, I thought to myself that I had netted a drum or some other trash fish and was starting to worry about my net ripping, I got it to bank and not only did I have about a dozen shad in the net I had another bluecat that was about 8 pounds or so  I've cast net a lot of different things bass, crappie, gar but I've never caught a eating size catfish in a cast net... :rock I was stoked...and disappointed all at the same time because the whole time we were there we were casting as far as we could and the fish were laying right up on bank...

Very cool 68valu!  :aok

Was hoping to fish for smallmouth in Lake Erie this weekend but thinking that might not happen.  This is what the Buffalo Harbor looked like 3 days ago.   :(

A joke for us fishermen

A woman goes into Cabela's to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter.
The clerk was standing behind the counter wearing dark shades.
She says to him, "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?"
He says, "Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes."
She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway...
He says, "That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It's a good all-around combination, and it's on sale this week for only $20.00."
She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!" As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor.
"Oh, that sounds like a Master Card," he says.
She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts.
At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes......there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was her who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around?
The man rings up the sale and says, "That'll be $34.50 please."
The woman is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?"
He replies, "Yes, ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00, and the Catfish Bait is $3.50."
She paid it and left without saying a word.

Check this out gents  :O

"The first BLUEFIN of the year was caught on the Top Gun 80  on their 1-1/2 day offshore trip! She was a beauty weighing in at 67 pounds. 10 others were hooked, but  got away. 24 Yellowtail were also caught!

This is an exciting start for the season ahead!  The  Daiwa Pacific departs Thursday night and the Legend departs Friday night; both for 1-1/2 day offshore freelance!"
