Nope, Channel Cat was caught on an artificial LURE. Not live bait. Two more guesses.
Landing is overrated.

Ive caught them (Channel Cats ) on Rapala's and Rebels trolling. Had a friend catch one on a spinnerbait once, and another ( Big Bullhead ) on a Rooster tail

Bailey got it! Channel cat on a Bucktail spinner otherwise known as a Roostertail.

Very rare for me to ever catch a Catfish with a spinner, my first fish doing it.

We use to use those for Trout, but we'd catch the occasional cat on them too..

Well ill be darned, must be something to that lure, i thought it was a total fluke that my buddie caught one on it. Spinners for Cats? Makes no sence but hey if it works, why not  :aok

It must look like a dying fish with that spinner and then the tail could look like some ripped tail fins.

Caught a 21" Channel Cat on a silver spoon last year.  It was a DareDevil that I had been using on Pike in Canada last spring and the paint was all tore up, so I just used a green pad and scoured the rest of the paint off leaving a nice shiny lure.  Had caught some bass on it and thought I had another one.  Was very surprised to see a catfish!

I went fishing with a wrestling coach and my brother. Coach brought his camera so I'll ask him for the photos. I think there is also a photo with an entire stringer of smallies and catfish from the creek.

Not a damn thing except some very small bites during my entire week at Raystown. :cry

Ah well I tried a few new techniques and through a little searching I found some new places to go and was able to convince the wife to start going to. :aok

None the less it was still a great vacation and we all had a blast.  :rock

and for the sake of having some pics here is a nice carp that was I caught a couple of years ago close to my home. It was the first I ever caught as well, so I was being a little cautious with it. Of course now I realize how stupid it was to be concerned over such a fish.

This one is the first bass my wife ever caught and was done on the same day.

and also on the same day my daughter caught these on her brand new rod. I think she smiled for weeks after this. They were within 15-20 minutes of each other too, the lucky little sh*&*t (jk).

Best day bank fishing we ever had.

bailey, when shore fishing (I used to do a lot in the UK) its best to fish the tide up (theory is the small fish come in lookiing for food, and the bigger fish follow as it gets deeper). Also early morning or dusk/night (not sure thats germaine in the US, but is for the uk).

I can teach ya to off the ground cast, and once you've got that down, I'll show you how to pendulum cast too - a good pendulum will take ya out to around the 170+ area - the top boys are hitting 300+ - but I'm not one of them lol.....

Clip down rigs are useful too - if my uk fish gear gets here, I'll slip a couple into my bag - assuming we can get the road trip in - so you can have them to copy etc.......

These are the 2 fish I caught on the silver spoon (in the same day) out at Tatman Run on Raystown Lake.  Sorry to hear your trip turned out so bad, but that Lake can be very hard to fish.  You should do the river with me.  Wife caught 14 Smallmouth on Thursday fishing with me ;)

WOW those are some nice fish there. Our trip did not go bad it is usually more about spending time in the peace and quiet more than catching fish, so it was a success no matter how many bites we had. If I get up there again in the near future I will surely let you know though. :aok
