I used it earlier this year and didn't have any problems.  I don't know what it is, as my other baitcaster broke last year, so I can't really test out to see if it's me or the reel.  But I do know that it's just not acting right; it feels different.

My mini spin reel that I use for bream, crappie, and when we catch skipjack works like a charm, though.  I am planning on buying a large spin reel to use for bass fishing, as I have finally gotten comfortable with casting a spin reel.

Went out after work yesterday for a couple hours since I'll probably be too busy around the house this weekend to get out.  :( Took my daughter out for her first time bass fishing.  Caught a couple largemouth, one decent one rest were pretty small.  Daughter was able to catch a rock bass.  Wind was a bit of a pain but it definitely beats staring at the boob-tube.

Long day yesterday, out on the water really early. We were out for Striped Bass, but there were none to be found. Weather and the spawn turned them off. Lots of really big Bluefish though. Kids had their hands full most of the day. Some of them were 15lbs plus. Fun watching a 12yrold reeling in something that is just 100% attitude. They call them Demons for a reason. Kids had an absolute blast, my friend was upset we didnt get into the Stripers, but he tried like heck....just a great guy, and best Capt out there  :aok  I wasnt worried....the kids had huge smiles on their faces   :aok  That and my son learned a very valuable lesson, If there is ever a girl on the boat, she will catch the most fish, and largest fish.....something she took great joy in reminding him the whole way home  :rofl

Very Cool Jimmy!

I think you're right mbailey, he calls it a Kingfish which seems to be an Amberjack in NZ.
