POSSESSION LIMIT - the number of fish of any species that an angler may have in his/her possession at any given time, except at place of ordinary residence. http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/gloss/index-eng.htm

The caveat there is the "ordinary residence".  Unless you are going to deliver these fish door to door while never having twice your daily limit on you at a time you will be outside the law.

Rules aside, and while I will adamantly agree that the tradition behind fishing is the ability to take home a tasty meal for yourself at the end of the day I can not bite my tongue here.  Keeping enough fish for 400 people is ludicrous. It doesn't make you a fisherman, it doesn't make you a sportsman, it makes you a meat-hog and a detriment to the resource.  This is aimed at you as well Flench, while everyone loves to rag on the DNR the rules they have in place are to ensure the health of the resource for generations to come.

I use to be bad about keeping more than my share but there is so many people fishing now day's I don't do it any more plus the law is just to bad down here . One will get checked if he is on the lake you can bet that . I'm just saying on this one lake , they should let the people keep all there fish because they let all the water out each year and the fish just go down the Mississippi to who knows where ..

Are you sure they aren't just moving up stream or wintering in deep holes though?   Crappies spawn in the spring and take two years to reach maturity, so if you're getting em in there every year they gotta be coming from somewhere.

Do you ever fish on the Mississippi at all?  I've got kind of a weird question for anyone on the river below St. Louis.

Well its official, im addicted to Surf fishing. This was my first year doing it and ive been bit bbbbbaaaadddddd! Were still on vacation down here in LBI NJ, and every day this week ive gotten up at 5am to get the poles in the truck and down to the beach. The myriad of things we've caught is amazing
Sharks, dogfish , fluke, herring , (not the littleones, caught one the other day that was 17" ) and Kingfish. My son had something on his line yesterday that took the 11' rod ( heavy action )and literally bent it in half, and pulled him 4' forward from where he set the hook. After a 15min fight what ever it was got off, but that was ok with me, as i was the one that had to deal with the monster once it hit the beach. My son was convinced that he accidentially hooked a submarine.  :D ( Im thinking a big Bluefish prolly in the 8 to 12 lb range, as the biggies  are starting their run from the ocean to the bay, could have quite possibly been a striper as well.
The guys at the bait shops down here are amazingly friendly, and dont hesitate to let you know where the action is at, whats hot as far as bait, and offer any advice they can as far as fishing  rigs.

Who knew that this much fun was only 2 1/2 hrs from where i live. The wife thinks were both nuts getting up this early on vacation, and maybe so, but I wouldnt miss this for the world. ( A little caveat on her comment, she thinks im nuts, but who in there right mind goes to lay on a beach for hours, read People magazine and swim, all the while next to such a large body of water and doesnt bring a fishing pole? Me crazy, i think not  :lol)

Well off to the surf, slept in a tad today as im learning that time has much less to do with the fishing here, as much as tide does.

Cobia, I bet. They will fight like hell. And it isn't all that impossible they are that far up North.

I would think the water would be too cold by now up there for cobia, not sure though.

on the OBX the red drum population was fished away, its starting to look very good IMO.

Red Drum school.

Took these from another forum, the drum were said to be only a 1/2 mile off the beach. sharks, purposes, and mahi mahi look to be getting them good though.

The water spout was near the tunnel up toward the Chesapeake.

This year was unseasonally hot, I wouldn't count out the possibility of a few Cobia still lurking about.

Alright guys, for those of you who enjoy cleaning your catch, here are some simple how-to videos, all checked for language and everything.
*VIDEOS CONTAIN FISH BLOOD, IF CLEANING FISH OR BLOOD MAKES YOU QUEASY OR YOU JUST DON'T LIKE IT, DO NOT WATCH*

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okP6Wffm-pw&feature=related   This is Kentucky Afield. The man who appears to be holding his pole oddly and seens to be doing things weird is doing so because he had a bad accident when he was about 19. Good bunch of fishing in this vid, too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKGiFgTEwm0     For a bit larger fish (There are suptle differences).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9pEX2zmtzY    This is normally for smaller fish, although if you prefer, you can cut out the dorsal and anal fins as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dvKrHy044U     How to gut a trout (Contains a bit of coagulated blood).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edsJOuwcRKg    Excellent how-to fillet catfish (MUST WATCH IMO)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3-GLr9bTXM     This is for elongated fish such as pickerel, pike and, muskie.

I had one of the best fishing days in a long time yesterday. In about 2 hours I got a total of 5 large bass and a smaller one. The largest one I got I measured at a hair over 22 inches, and oddly enough I caught it on a small half eaten worm I was trying to catch bluegill with. It was quite a fight too, a very thrilling experience. I only had 8 pound line on and the pond was covered with lily pads and weeds. The bass kept on running to the weeds taking my line out, I had to make sure it didn't wrap its self around one and get stuck. I would get it almost to shore but then it would leap out of the air and then dart into the middle of the pond again and I had to start everything over. After about 3-4 mins I finally got the thing on shore, unfortunately though I don't think it made it. I got the hook out and everything but after running water through it to revive it it just didn't want to budge. : (

I went fishing yesterday and caught a catfish on a weird lure. Can anyone guess what it was?
Catfish was a little over 20" I'd guess 22" or so.

C'mon, guess, I dare you all.
