Go away then ack-ack, you are like a hungry puppy hanging around. Go play with your sappy friends, I'll kill your 38 again later. Go on now...shooo...don't worry, you are very cute with your "lightning in a bottle" but you are getting to be a nuisance...git

Oakranger, what do you think about organizing though the JUGS group, it seems like several of us are on it already and a few more original members seem to be piping up. It is a little more anonymous than the forum, which is an obvious invitation for thread jacking.

Yes, WWhisky would be great to have.  It dose not matter what P-47 they fly, if they love flying it, they are in.
SAPP group are fun to fight.  Always enjoy their tactics and trying to find away to counter attack it.  Maybe every once in a while us and SAPP get together and hunt down enemy cons.   :aok

I must just be killing only very bad P-38 pilots in my noob jug...

(Image removed from quote.)

I seem to recall most P-38 jocks in MW employing the de-ack the field and vulch tactic. Then scurrying home to land their cheap scalps if someone came in above them or once the numbers were not in their favor.

AKAK, This is a thread for people who want to fly a very important cool bird together, maybe you should be patting other 38 guys on the back in different threads instead of strutting around with a misguided superiority complex. Both aircraft did very well in the PTO and the 47 outdid the 38 in the ETO and MTO by a long shot. A Jug can be a very formidable machine, I've got a lot to learn but it makes me happy trying.

Come fly with us sometime.

and i seem to remember a certain jug pile-it that dove on a certain low pee38j, made one turn, blew his alt and e advantages, and proceeded to dive away towards one of his bases and some friendlies......and when called on it, i think he said something like his stick was acting up........which sounded pretty hillarious, considering his loop, and one turn were perfect, and he was able to jink as he accelerated away.........

oh yea.......you say the jug outdid the 38..but which one produced the top american aces again?  :devil

In this game P38 and P47 two planes with entirely different attributes.

During WWII the Jug early war was used as an escort. Later also.
In the PAC the 47N was the long range escort.

Contrary to popular belief very few fights took place at 100 feet swirling and twirling.

In Europe most were high alt escort runs.  The Jug performs better at high alt then the P38.

Choice of combat would go to the P47 at 23K or higher.  The P38 just doesn't have enough HP.
The P47 was just flat out faster then the 38 at mid20K or above.  So in real combat, where
the smart pilot would use what his aircraft does best against any other aircraft, this case the 38.
The 38 would only be a threat short term if higher....the P47 would just walk away. Or extend
and take pot shots at the 38 at will.  P38 could not do anything about it.

As Heinz Barr said when asked about the 38, we had no fear of them we were more concerned with the
51s and 47s which had greater speed.  We were especially envious of the P47s ruggedness. They were much
more difficult to bring down.

Robert Johnson would testify to that...so would Pipz Priller.

they were envious of the 47's ruggednes, because they could get themin their sights.  :devil
