Some Observations:

Badger: You might want to try the test again with 32bit z-buffering enabled (in vid card setup and 3d test setup).  I wonder what kind of difference it might make.

LePaul: Your main hit is a little something called "D3D Software T&L".  Dunno if it is hardware supported on your vid card or not.. but if it is.. enable it.

The O'clockers seem to have the advantage.. especially those that played with FSB.

There isn't much of a disparity between the AMD and Intel processors with this test.  My 1GHz Intel scored 2817 vs a 3069 by an AMD 1.4GHz that was similarly configured.

The biggest factor is clearly the Vid card for this test.  The GeForce 3 stuff is kicking ass.  The Radeon and GeForce 2 stuff is performing in about the same range, though considerably lower than the GeForce 3.  There is also a huge disparity between the MX and Pro versions of the GeForce stuff.

Spro, I tested the fps in AH earlier offline, sitting on the runway res was 1600 x 1200 at 32 bit.
With V-sync off just for the test I was getting 92 FPS !
Cit was right these GF3 Titaniums are totally insane.
Will keep you posted on the effect in smoke etc.
Currently i have not seen anything lower than 60 fps which is the refresh rate I use at 1600 res.

Thanks Cav >

That's a awesome fps ,

I get only 70 at 1280 / 1024 32bit in Mustang setting on runway offline .

I do know for sure what card to get next    :)

thanks again ,

I don't know if this will make a differance for u or not , but when I use that driver "4.13.7189" I lost 14 fps in Ace's High sitting in the tower offline . I even tried reinstalling it later again , same thing . Though it might be cause there differant cards don't know but my DDR card don't like that driver for sure .

take care

I don't have much of a choice there Airspro.. I need those drivers to keep Ghost Recon from crashing.

Thanks...

I'll give that a try and repost results......

I've been really happy with this ELSA GLADIAC 920 Graphics Chipset NVIDIA GeForce3 combined with Intel MOBO.

Great in-game FPS rates with every software product I've tried and never had a CTD or lock-up.  I'm getting a constant 45 FPS in Ghost Recon (great game BTW) at 1280x1024 (32 bit), 24 bit Z buffer, all details on highest settings.

I find this Intel MOBO very expensive and limited on what you can tweak, but highly stable and reliable.

Edit:  I have no 32 bit Z buffer option in either the 21.81 Nvidia drivers nor is it offered in 3dMark 2001 as a selectable item.  Only 16 and 24 bit appears.  I also note that in Ghost Recon for example, only 16 and 24 bit appear as selectable while the 32 bit option is greyed out.  I do notice that I have options for something called W buffer and it is turned on for 32 bit.  Perhaps that is something to do with GeForce 3 cards specifically.

Download the software from here, on the left under benchmarks. Run the executable and its pretty self explanatory. A good score is relative to the hardware your machine is equiped with. Badgers machine has hi-end stuff for intel, and there are some very hi-end AMD machines too. If you have a Geforce 3 vid card, then I wouldn't want anything less than 5000 for a score (judging by the results posted above). If you you look at the rest of the results, it will give you an idea of how everyone else did, and you can see how you rate amongst the AH crowd.

These are my "old" system under 3DMark2001.

This is the one I play on right now. Nest I'll post the system I just built up. There's going to be a vid card swap and then I'll run the test again.
