Made an emergency trip last night
« on: January 22, 2011, 12:18:53 PM »
Last night I drove for about 7 hours to get from Tennessee to Mt. Vernon, Texas.  A buddy of mine is in a gospel quartet, and while they were down here their bus blew a tire, caught on fire and burned to the ground.  Just asking for some prayers for them. They lost pretty much all of their belongings they had on the bus.

is everybody OK?

glad to see that at least they're ok.

this is something i'm surprised doesn't happen more often. i see a LOT of church buses in very poor state of repair.

there was one up in pa about 9 or so years ago......they drifted across the road into the path of an 18 wheeler......

any way......be glad they're ok. they can replace their belongings.......they can't replace themselves.

if they need any clothing donations, let us know.......or any other help.

Was wondering. Toured with the Ambassadors Quartet In the early 80s. Done some studio work for Mr. JD Sumner of the stamps. And Done some work with Gold City Quartets Brian Free.
Gospel is where I got my start in music. Southern gospel and bluegrass will always be in my blood.
Bill Monroe Father of bluegrass was my cousin. He was a distant cousin. My great grand fathers first cousin.

That's pretty neat, BP. My family is full of gospel singers.  My grandfather and aunt are in quartets and my cousins have a really big gospel group.

Update: The guys made it back to TN safely. We just dropped them off at their vehicles, and now we're headed home for some much needed rest.

Do either of you know of a gospel quartet called The Kellys?  They are from Lawrenceburg, TN.
