And to be clear. HT can institute whatever rules he wants. Be hard pressed to find very many instances of me violating them.

Im just pointing out that the entire reason why 200 is used to begin with.
Though my feeling is. If people dont like the discussion on 200 no matter what the subject. Then tune back to 1

People have to choose to be on 200. Its not the standard channel.
Again its like moving next to a race track. Then complaining about the sounds of the cars.

So you are in essence saying that 3-4 folks ranting on Politics on 200, means the other 2-300 people in the game who use 200 for talking back and forth about the game need to detune so they don't have to listen to it?

Seems like those 3-4 folks might consider the other 2-300 and tune to another channel to have their rant instead

Sorry dude, old school here. Nobody likes a snitch. :neener:

Nice, a guy brings a legitimate issue forward, and you want to call him a snitch.  No wonder people see these forums as difficult to discuss issues.

Drediock, this is nothing like your analogies of moving to either the mountains or next to a race track.

A better analogy would've been moving to a neighborhood with a HOA against mowing the lawn before 8am on Sundays and having neighbors decide it's okay for them to mow it at 7am because it suits them better.

The arenas, like the HOA in my example, have rules.  Simple as that.

The major difference between handling a consistent violation the rules here and a consistent violation of HOA is that people tend to act differently when approached in person about the problem they're creating.

When I can't handle it myself, I go to the authorities.

To combine the two, we're paying to live in HiTech's neighborhood, with his HOA, and the internet makes it impossible to reason with the violators.

In essence Yes, Im saying exactly that.
Again, you seem to forget WHY 200 was chosen for use to begin with. Its a channel you choose to be on. And being here as long as you have You should know that the standard channel was intended for as you say "the other 2-300 people in the game who use 200 for talking back and forth about the game "
200 was a tuned choice. Your choice

Now you dont like the sound of the race cars even though you knew the racetrack was there to begin with so it more closely resembles what channel 1 was supposed to be used for. Thats not why 200 was chosen.

No its exactly like my analogies. I was actually here at the time it happened. I remember it going down.
If you just wanted to talk back and forth about the game. thats what the standard channel was for.
So that people could be free to talk about other topics. 200 was decided upon at HT's suggestion because you had to choose to go there. (as noted in the quote several posts ago)

Again for the comprehension challanged among us

I have no problem with HTs rules. By and large I dont usually break whatever rules he has put forth. And they were working as intended till everyone decided channel 200, the channel you had to go out of your way to tune to was the new channel 1 which was the channel you didnt have to do anything to tune to. And should be addressed the same way.

It's difficult because the majority of 'adults' here are impeccably childish. The younger noobs
who join the game tend to slowly pick up the behavior of their virtual role-models, creating
a never-ending cycle of fail.

Or maybe I'm just making this up in my head. Who cares, there's no viable solution for the
'problem' anyway.

It doesn't matter if channel 260 or channel 300 was chosen; HTC said political banter on ANY public channel is a violation of their code of conduct. The ONLY channel that isn't moderated is your squad channel, so go ahead and talk to your squadmates about politics all your want. Of course, most smart squadrons prohibit that kind of chatter anyway because all it does is create strife.

I do not think that is why 200 was set aside for many years ago.  But let's give you the benefit of a large doubt.  It has evolved away from that.  If you want to discuss health care, the cause of global warming or aliens landing, please go to 203 or 300.  Show some respect for the majority of players who don't want to listen to the crap or have to play the squelch game for the rude few.  Deal?

You're intent on seeing it you're way, and it's a safe bet that 98% of the people see it the other way.  That should tell you something.

The fact of the matter is that it's been stated, time and again, political discussion is not allowed in the game.  It doesn't matter how you're interpreting a post from Flossy and HiTech from years back and using them to suit your position, the rules are what they are.

I don't care one iota if people want to tune privately and talk politics or religion or abortion or gun control, however, I don't want to hear it on 200, a channel that I have to tune to, as you said, but one that is what everybody uses for general banter and chat.

I enjoy chatting and listening to folks on 200.  There are a lot of laughs.  Telling me to change my ways, a person playing by the rules, to accomodate a group of people that are explicitly violating the rules is backwards logic.

You see me often talking politics anywhere in the game? I typically dont. If I have its only been on the VERY rarest of occasions and limited to a single statement or two.
So your slightly off base here.. by about 10 miles.

I know HT doesnt and wont agree with me. But personally if it were me. I'd say simply. "You choose to go there, its your problem. Deal with it or tune back to 1"
But then I'd enforce the rules on 1 vigorously. It would be a hell of alot easier the to try to enforce the rule on all the channels

200 is the channel you chose to tune to. Its not the default channel. It was the channel chosen to get away from these exact whines. Based on what went down in 2004. IMO and My opinion only. I consider any complaints about whats said there illegitimate at best on those grounds alone.

You're also being hypocritical in wanting to have it both ways, or merely playing devil's advocate for the sake of playing it.    One part of you says: "If you don't want to hear Politics on 200, don't tune".   Then you skirt the issue entire and say: "You see me often talking politics anywhere in game?"   This thread/topic isn't about you.  It is about a player reporting various idiots who were flagrantly crossing the line (thinking they could have Carte Blanche with no repercussions).

Sorry Dred, HTC have already told this Community ad-nauseum of "No Politics, Religion either IN GAME or on this BBS".
