Are you really, really, really sure about that?  Give me the dates that VF-8 was stationed onboard Yorktown and the dates that Thatch was commander of VF-8 and tell me who the commander was of the "14th Allied Air Force" was then maybe you'd be correct.

I remember a guy telling me how he flew the wildcat and had some victories and was shot down a few times.  Is this true his name had something to do with wildcat lol.

Hmmm VF-8 was on the Hornet and their top scorer had 2 kills in Wildcats.  The squadron had 5 total.

Jimmy Thach had VF-3.

I guess the years play tricks on a guy.

i dont know much other then he flew wildcats in WW2(thats all ive been told)I havnt bothered to check the timelines and stuff.how am i partially correct?

President Bush was shot down while attacking a position on Chichi Jima.He was rescued quickly by the U.S.S. Finback.If he had been captured,he surely would have been beheaded.The real nasty part was that some of the Japanese officers actually ate the victims liver!The book Fly Boys has all this information.It's a good read,but it left me with a real dislike for the Japanese that took part in the totally needless beheadings and cannibalism!
