supporting unicode for ingame chat would be a start, Its quite difficult to hold a french conversation without éèê. Japanese is a nightmare also, and don't get me started on russian

Noir, I manage it very well. It's not real elegant but still... The thing is, why would I do that, given the vast majority of player wont understand me?

I know it cut us off from potential people, but in a small community like this, I feel a standard have to be imposed for communications or else it could quickly become a jungle.

yes but some people that do not speak the language of the majority just leave the game for a while because they are completly lost. some don't even know there IS a forum or tutorials etc...

So whats to stop a community that cannot speak english from popping up? I have no problem people having their own little jungle ours is quite big enough isn't it? A Russians money is just as good as an Americans  or any other nationality for that matter, whos to say they cannot have their own channel 200 for their language.

Yes... 1 way to get more subs would be to ad new/other nations.


I do agree on the languages. I think an interpreter program would be best ... so a Japanese person can talk to a Russian person or a Frenchmen to an American and visversa. Similar to google translate. I type in English on my end and it comes out French on his end.

Before you have a need for this however you need the Frenchman and some French planes.






BTW Skuzzy I asked you nicely, I thought, to please leave this thread in the AH main forum as more folks attend and it is more of a discussion than a wish list item and I also directed the question directly to HT not the C portion. I would like his take on this if he says pound sand so be it. I won't bother anymore.

this never works out ok, the languages are so different that the final message most of the time simply does not make sense or even becomes something else, imagine even expretions and such. I think there could be a "200" for every single language and a main 200 where people that will join are people that do not mind seeing other languages in their text buffers so people would simply talk in thier own language or thosw who can speak other language would do so.

I know there are some guys that play this game and do not understand a word people say and only understand basics of what people type, I have NO IDEA how the person figures out all the stuff this game has with no comunication at all. even the forums. there could be a help forum to each language and people that do speak english could help out with some basic info even by translating the questions to someone who is a veteran in the game

Puppetz, your french is pretty bad

For native french speakers, having a text conversation within AH is frustrating. Creating a french squad would be a hassle without the proper text characters, and over the years I've seen quite a few french pilots try the gamer, and most of them left. Why? probably because of their isolation, in aces high you have to know a bit of English, even if you find people from your country you can't send text to them in your home langage)

Adding unicode to the game would surely increase division in the community, but at the end I think it would be good for the game, increasing the subscriptions and add diversity in the gameplay!

when you do not have english as your first language, the first words you learn are the bad words (at least in Brazil that is very common  )
but seriously, if the person is from Brasil, he only discovers the game because he already has some knowledge of flight simulation games. Aces high is not just that and also people get lost and simply do not know how to play it. what I mean is, the person knows the names (rudder, elevator, trim...) but has no idea at first where is the fight going on, where are the enemy bombers, is it possible to change your fuel loadout..,what is a tank spawn,Why can't I use a bomb on my a/c? ... and stuff...
The ones who stay are the ones who have basic english, the ones who find other people that speak the language OR those who simply mess with everything. imagine flying wanting a escort or some help of some kind like a damaged tank that does not even know that supplies can fix and stuff and you are not able to comunicate (even do not know what 200 channel is)

American with relatives from all nations in game execpt Russia and Japan, and I only fly German. You can't beat the feel of Messerschmit iron, or the sound of a Daimler-Benz engine, or the roar of a Rheinmetall-Borsig cannon.


Infact, the bottom of my "things I want added" list is mostly US stuff.
