First is seems like they are talking only about car engines. Second what do they mean by "best'? Is it the most powerful, most reliable, most economical, best sounding, or best looking? In my opinion there is no such thing as a best engine, there is the right engine. I'm not going to put any one of those engines in a lawnmower, and if I want to buy a car for 30 years I'm sure not all of those engines will last.

They also did not put any one of my favorite car engines on the list.  :furious

you should bear in mind that both the ford and chevy v-6 engines will flat outrun and out accelerate about 95% of the big block muscle cars from the glory daze.

Bring back the flathead Ford V8

The guys at wards are imbeciles. I prefer engines where my foot is the Throttle Position Sensor and a screwdriver is my idle adjustment tool. :old:

i think they're in the upper 3600 to upper 3700 range. they're not heavy by todays standards at all. still heavier than yesterdays cars though.

 EDIT
i just went and looked at the door jamb of mine. she's GVRW at 4600.

And that has always amazed me. I worked at a large savage yard a few years removing engines/drivetrain/computers out. The inventory sheets from them for just the different computers onboard, were 2 or 3 pages!. It was actually quicker and easier to remove the cab from the frame then fool with taking the engine and tranny out through the front.
I absolutlely hated new Ford trucks. I've always twisted the wrenches on the old Fords. Rebuilt several engines and transmissions over the years, but the designers are taking the fun out of it for me.  :( I've been building my owe F150 for the past couple of years when I have time and money just to have something dependable, easy to work on, and cool to look at. For half the cost of what they want for a new truck these days, you could build a old one just like new! Even better actually. I won't have a 500$ a month truck payment.  ;)
