Dont worry HTC is world renouned in altering its product based on the annoyance of one person.
One person? As they say, you're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. The lack of windowed mode
is a serious shortcoming in AH, and potential new players will be repelled by the fact. Being insulted on the game forum doesn't help either. The developers
have tried to institute windowed mode, and it didn't work out.
IMO, Aces High is hands-down the best aerial combat simulator in the gaming world, an amazing feat considering how long the line (and I'm including Air Warrior, although I don't know the genealogy, if any) has been in existence. One might ask, why, if AH is so great, does it only have a world-wide following of a few thousand subscribers rather than hundreds of thousands, or millions?
I like to think part of the answer is the unforgiving nature of the simulation. If you are not "wired" to be a fighter pilot (physical factors notwithstanding), or a born stalker/marksman for the ground game, you are going to be a very humbled and unhappy puppy playing AH. In reality though, I think the small player base is the result of the compressed dynamic range of how many things there are to
do in the game, and the fact that, innovation wise, AH tends to lag the competition, like the windowed thing.
Having said all that, AH is a business, owned by people. Although I don't know them, I suspect that they are having a ball coding, administering, and playing AH...and making some money doing it. Sounds like a dream job to me. If they don't want to risk making the game wildly popular by introducing features that will draw in the unwashed masses (and likely sucking out the fun for them), that is their call, but don't tell me that windowed mode would not be one of those highly desirable features.
