I won't be back home until tomorrow, but I do have shadows on. I'll have to try turning them off once I get home. If that doesn't work I have plenty of films I can send in with the world.cfg

Bad news.  Using the various "world.cfg" files and films have not yielded one crash yet.

Any of you guys have any anti-xxx software installed (note: installed, not just running or disabled)?

Well, there has to be something in common with all you who are having this problem.  None of the films/world.cfg files, sent to us, have crashed on any system yet.

I just set all my graphics options to minimum and the film works.  I'm going to turn the options back up one at a time and see which one is causing the crash.

I think the problem is with the "Ground Detail Range" slider.

When I turn on all graphics options to max and enabled everything except change the slider for ground detail range to a 1/4 inch below 4 miles then the film viewer works fine.  So max everything except ground detail range slider a bit below 4 miles and film viewer works.

When I have all graphics options to minumum and every graphics option disabled other than Detail Terrain checked and ground detail range slider to 4 miles, the film view crashes. So min everything except ground detail range slider at 4 miles with detail terrain checked, film viewer crashes.

It looks like the problem is setting the ground detail range to 4 miles is causing the problem no matter what the rest of the graphic options are set to, other than having detail terrain on.

Since the ground clutter is new and the slider appears to relate to clutter distance, I suspect there is some sort of issue with it set all the way to 4 miles.  I'm going to leave it set at 3.9 miles for now.

PS: That ground detail range slider at max appears to cause the problem even when ground clutter is turned off.
PSS: Also when I move the slider to just a hair below 4 miles (maybe 1/16 of an inch below), the film viewer works fine.

Midway, what terrain?  The distance slider will cause X number of objects to be rendered.  If there are too many, then it could, possibly, cause the film viewer to crash.  A couple of the special events terrains do push the limits on the number of objects in viewable range.

Current terrain in LWA = Compello, is where I adjusted all my graphics options to get the film viewer to work.

Not sure what terrain was in the film(s), probably varying terrains since it crashes on a number of different films old and new.

Seems odd that moving that slider from 4 miles to 3.9+ (as close to as possible to 4 miles) no matter what the other graphics options are set to should cause the film viewer to crash.

PS: I'm likely jumping to conclusions on the cause, but that's the best guess from what I'm seeing so far.

With the slider below 4, the winginFew1 film works fine, but other films are still crashing.  I tried it on a 15 second film I made and the viewer crashed.  I'm going to see what, if anything, I can do to the graphics options to get this short film to work.  It crashes before the film starts.

Here is the link for the 15 second film: http://www.4shared.com/file/_ZHr6xFN/rudder_extremes_350_plus.html

Got the 15 second film to work by moving the slider 1/4 inch to the right of 4 miles.... when I have it 1/16 inch (or closer) to the 4 mile limit, the film viewer crashed on this short film, although it worked on the other film (winginfew1).

I'm going to leave the slider 1/4 inch from 4 miles.

I'm pretty sure the problem has something to do with this slider... changing other graphics options doesn't seem to affect it (so far).

I do not have enough information to start to understand why it would effect your computer and not any of ours.

I'm fine for now, I think, with the slider 1/4 inch from 4 miles.  If the film viewer crashes again on me, I'll let you know.  Maybe others can try this and see if it helps them too.
