Nah. That way if florida beat alabama, florida would be in the playoffs when alabama is clearly the better team. Conf playoffs ignore non conf games which is igorong information content on information theory terms.

Also last year osu vs msu is another example. Yes osu lost to msu, but everyone knew osu was the better team.

Thats why the committee did it differently this year.

careful, you may venture into a argument you don't want.   Ignoring not making to a conference championship, ignoring playing one less game, ignoring head to head match ups.  We should also remember noncoference games are preseason, that could be a stretch but they are the first two three games a year.  Also, they do count as total record, and that is a actionable factor in determining eligibility for conference championships aka the playoffs round 1.

If OSU got in ahead of MSU last year, Herbstreit would be hanging on the corner of Abbott and Grand River.  :old:

There was plenty of talk about how PSU didn't get in because they lost two games, one to Michigan, and one to Pitt who is non-conference.

Yep.  I think the way the committee did it this year is better, where conference championship is just one thing among several to be considered.

As of today, all of Bama's QBs that have taken a snap in a game are transferring except for Hurts.  If Hurts gets hurt....

I enjoy most debates, so please feel free to go for it.  :aok

They aren't ignored and are also counted.  It's just that they aren't all-determining factors overriding everything else.

For conference championships, non-conference games only count if there is otherwise a tie, right?

I think OSU should have been in instead of MSU and was the better team.

Their 4th string guy is probably still pretty good!  ;)

I've always felt that Alabama's QB recruiting was mostly "meh"... except for that AJ MCarron guy. That dude was a baller. In any case, since they've been switching to a spread offense, the QB recruiting may improve for the better I think since high school dual threat QBs are the hottest things in high school and college football right now.

Hey Brooke-

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jim-harbaugh-leaving-michigan-for-the-rams-is-reportedly-a-very-real-possibility/?linkId=32270303

Whatcha think?  Real or fake?

I don't think he'll leave unless he tires of it.  At Michigan, he is exalted and the Keeper of a Legacy.  As a Michigan graduate, I don't see how anything else could be a better.   :aok

Also, there is the matter of beating Ohio State, being in the playoffs, and being national champion -- none of which has been achieved yet, all remaining as the loftiest and most-difficult goals to strive for into the future.  :aok

In other news, Urban Meyer Wiener was offered the job of Head Coach for The Paducah Pop Warner Midget Tornados.  The offer was reportedly worth one ribbon and a pot luck dinner.  This is a career opportunity for Coach Wiener, "I am really excited about the offer.  I would be thrilled to coach kids that can read."  The Midget Tornados have a average age of 14 and a literacy rate of 95%.  This would be a huge improvement for Coach Wiener who would be leaving ohios 3.2% literacy rate, the lowest in the world.  Former player under Coach Wiener, Ezekiel Elliott was quoted being excited for Urban.  "Hoohardin da gew foots smatt derr, hah ha ha".  Well that's a good point Mr. Elliott, Coach Wiener should have plenty short players to help keep his shoes tied tight.

Good Luck Coach Wiener  :aok
