Anyone know the spec on the CH Products Potentiometer?
« on: June 06, 2017, 08:08:56 AM »
HP-100A 0807

It's time to replace the pots in my Fighterstick USB. That number appears useless for replacing them with 3rd party pots. I saw a YouTube video where the guy says that they are 100 ohm but I haven't found a way to verify that.

I thought there's probably several people here who've been through this already and know what I need.

We have a Fry's, a Radio Shack (surprise) and Best Buy around here. Obviously I'd prefer to pick one up locally and get the stick working quickly.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Thank you gentlemen.

I'd found the radwell site. It will be my backup if I'm forced to order online.

I had not found that simhq thread, and I'd blindly missed the 100,000 ohms  :bhead
Thanks Bizman.
I think if I'd caught that, I might have snagged a pot at the Guitar Center yesterday. I seem to remember someone posting they had them but the shop was very busy and I gave the guy the wrong info.

That's the way to connect potentiometers.

Actually, in the Fighterstick, it has those nifty clips that slide onto the solder tangs.

Alright, it's been one of those  :bhead'ing moments.

The problem with the pot isn't that it is worn out, just the opposite. I figure I'm not using it enough. After rattling around in my pocket with all the coin change for two days, and my incessantly spinning the knob shaft, I noticed that it was turning freely. No rough spots.

I pulled out my ohm meter again, (you have one too, right?) and the dial was swinging smoothly.
I put it back in the base and pluged er in. It needed calibration, but I'm back in business after reattaching the base.

Still, I plan to order a replacement or two from radwell because this hasn't been fun. I might order one of those CTS 295's just to see if they work. The shipping and handling will cost more then the pot lol

Thanks for the great help gentlemen. Truly, much appreciated.

We can always hope his pot goes spikey again so he can't hit us?  Just kidding... glad you fixed it.

I recently had an issue with a CH pot where at a couple of points it had sudden changes in value (resistive impedance).

I contacted CH and they sent me 2 replacements for free (...).  In parallel with this I tried cleaning the pot by soaking in isopropl alcohol and blowing out with compressed air (no pot disassembly needed).  It then worked perfectly, so I have 2 spares.

FWIW.

Easyscor this happened to me also. I opened it and twist around the pots and put it back in. It was working well after that. For some reason it's the aileron pots that keeps going off a bit. From time to time it does not want to center properly with the knob. So I just open it and tighten it up and good to go for couple months.
