Video of him looping the plane at low altitude over Puget Sound.  He recovered the loop right above the water, just barely :

Another video of the loop from a different angle:

note: you may have to refresh your browser to get the video to run

Hey, nobody recognizes the guy's voice from the Seattle crash, right?

The tower-cockpit comms give a good, clear recording of this dude's voice.  He said he wasn't a pilot, but he had played video games.  I don't recognize the voice.  Curious if anyone else did or not.

Last evening around the time frame of 6-7pm, Laura noticed a lower-than-usual airplane flying over the house, in an unusal direction, typically against the air traffic pattern that comes in through airpace of Auburn ATC Laura asked me "What kind of plane is that?" as we sat outside enjoying a glass of wine. I told her it was an Alaska Q400 with "no visible means of support" (mean short stubby wings). Based on the flight tracking software, I bet this was the plane that a Horizon employee stole for a suicidal joy ride!

My guess, he watched "How it Ends" before his shift and  still in trance, tried to escape Seattle.

Any plane can loop.   You just have to stay within the structural limits.

A Q400 will not permanently bend metal until a minimum of around 4Gs by design requirements.  Whether that means just popped rivets or the tail comes off when this load factor is reached is anyone’s guess. (I gotta go look it up to get the exact number.).  That’s at max gross weight.   This airplane was nowhere near that heavy (empty, low fuel) so he had a bit more margin than 4Gs.
