Both state of Michigan B1G schools look like they belong in the MAC.

For Michigan State, folks were expecting a rough year (although perhaps not this rough).  They had a difficult change of coaches, leaving the team in a tough spot, with a disrupted the program, recruiting class, and replenishment of players.

For Michigan (and Penn State, and to a lesser extent LSU), it is shocking.  Those programs have plenty of good players, plenty of resources, and highly experienced coaches and staff.  Whatever the coaching staff did to get the team ready for this season, it clearly didn't work.

Or maybe the covid stuff really disrupted their usual skirting of the rules regarding practices, etc.

Or it could be that Michigan has new guys at QB, both WR, both CB, and entire offensive line -- combined with with far less practice than normal seasons, and lack of non-Big 10 games at the start to serve as adjustment period.

Well sure, but multiple powers flipping places with multiple doormats across the conference is weird.

Totally weird.  Like nearing worst in program history weird.  Michigan fans are in shock.  Penn State fans probably, too.

I'm thinking that Michigan is used to using more-complicated defensive and offensive systems.  This year had way less practice than usual; the team is nearly all younger, newer guys; and they have losses at some critical spots.  I think they went for deploying their usual system, and it fell flat on its face under those conditions.

Minnesota is down 20 players plus a bunch of coaches to covid.

But at least they didn't cancel the game like Wisconsin, I guess....

Purdue just got completely diddlyed out of a win by a 100% phantom OPI call. 100% roadkill. Irate doesn't adequately describe my frame of mind.

The only penalty here is on the referee.

Not much in that, but there was full extension of the arm which resulted in more space.

A&M and LSU

This game I was sure the Aggies would win. Now after being off 2 weeks, it may be a challenge.
